There are no stupid questions, but there are \u201cicky\u201d ones, according to Jason Momoa. <\/p>\n

The 42-year-old Hawaiian actor went cold during an interview with New York Times journalist David Marchese<\/a> after the writer asked Momoa if he regretted filming a graphic rape scene during his breakout performance as Khal Drogo on HBO\u2019s \u201cGame<\/a> of Thrones.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pilot episode of the series<\/a> saw Momoa\u2019s barbaric warlord Drogo assault and force himself on his would-be queen Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, 34.<\/p>\n

When Marchese asked whether Momoa \u201cthinks differently about those scenes today,\u201d he replied, \u201cWell, it was important to depict Drogo and his style. You\u2019re playing someone that\u2019s like Genghis Khan.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cIt was a really, really, really hard thing to do. But my job was to play something like that, and it\u2019s not a nice thing, and it\u2019s what that character was. It\u2019s not my job to go, \u2018Would I not do it?\u2019\u2009\u201d<\/p>\n

The scene was widely criticized by fans at the time for taking liberties with the original story as written by George R. R. Martin, in which the two characters were together consensually.<\/p>\n

Momoa then added, \u201cI\u2019ve never really been questioned about \u2018Do you regret playing a role?\u2019 We\u2019ll put it this way: I already did it. Not doing it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the \u201cAquaman\u201d actor then seemingly gave Marchese the cold shoulder for the remainder of their chat, often offering only terse answers to the reporter\u2019s questions about other roles. <\/p>\n

When asked if Momoa would be \u201cable to articulate\u201d what he sees in the future for his DC comics hero, he responded, simply, \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marchese then turned his attention to Momoa\u2019s upcoming projects, namely \u201cSweet Girl,\u201d a film which implicates \u201cbig pharma,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201c[I\u2019ve] never researched anything like that before. Big pharma\u2019s pretty scary, buddy,\u201d Momoa said of the new role. When asked what sort of \u201cresearch stood out\u201d in preparation for filming, Momoa backtracked: \u201cI don\u2019t really want to talk about big pharma right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

As their time was nearly up, Momoa decided to say his peace about Marchese\u2019s earlier questions about the \u201cGoT\u201d rape scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to bring something up that left a bad feeling in my stomach. When you brought up \u2018Game of Thrones,\u2019 you brought up stuff about what\u2019s happ<\/a>ening with my character and would I do it again. I was bummed when you asked me that,\u201d Momoa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just feels icky \u2014 putting it upon me to remove something. As if an actor even had the choice to do that. We\u2019re not really allowed to do anything. There are producers, there are writers, there are directors, and you don\u2019t get to come in and be like, \u2018I\u2019m not going do that because this isn\u2019t kosher right now and not right in the political climate.\u2019 That never happens. So it\u2019s a question that feels icky. I just wanted you to know that.\u201d<\/p>\n
