A top Activision Blizzard executive accused of enabling sexual misconduct is leaving the company amid employee protests. <\/p>\n

J. Allen Brack \u2014 who heads the Blizzard division that\u2019s responsible for \u201cWorld of Warcraft\u201d and \u201cOverwatch\u201d \u2014 is leaving the company immedia<\/a>tely to \u201cpursue new opportunities,\u201d Activision Blizzard said Tuesday<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Brack was singled out by name in a lawsuit that the state of California filed against Blizzard last month, accusing the company of fostering a \u201cfrat bro\u201d culture full of sexual harassment, rape jokes and groping that even drove one female employee to suicide.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brack, who had been at Blizzard for 15 years, was aware of sexual misconduct and even helped enable it, according to the California suit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last week, Activision Blizzard employees walked out from work in solidarity with harassment victims and slammed the company\u2019s initially dismissive response to the suit as \u201cabhorrent and insulting,\u201d prompting CEO Bobby Kotick to apologize for being \u201ctone deaf.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Activision Blizzard stock was down more than 5.5 percent late Tuesday morning, according to MarketWatch data<\/a>. The news<\/a> comes ahead of this evening\u2019s Activision Blizzard second quarter earnings release and investor call, during which CEO Bobby Kotick and other executives will almost certainly be grilled about the company\u2019s response to the sexual harassment suit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brack will be replaced by two Blizzard veterans, Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra, who will work as \u201cco-leaders,\u201d the company said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that Jen Oneal and Mike Ybarra will provide the leadership Blizzard needs to realize its full potential and will accelerate the pace of change,\u201d Brack said in a statement<\/a> that Blizzard posted to its website. \u201cI anticipate they will do so with passion and enthusiasm and that they can be trusted to lead with the highest levels of integrity and commitment to the components of our culture that make Blizzard so special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brack\u2019s departure may help placate some critical Activision Blizzard employees, but he is not the only one of the company\u2019s executives who is in hot water.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Executive Vice President Fran Townsend \u2014 who sent out an internal email last month blasting the allegations in the California suit as \u201cdistorted and untrue,\u201d helping to spark last week\u2019s employee walkout \u2014 once again angered employees on Friday by tweeting<\/a> an Atlantic article about \u201cthe problem with whistleblowing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When Activision Blizzard employees responded critically to Townsend, she blocked them, according to Kotaku<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
