The movie about two gay men pursuing a divorce is exciting for so many reasons, chief among them being it\u2019s a groundbreaking addition to LGBTQ+ mainstream cinema and the thriving subgenre of divorce cinema.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing screams romance quite like divorce, amirite?<span id=\"more-690512\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Seriously, titles like <em><strong>Kramer v Kramer<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Scenes From A Marriage,<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Marriage Story<\/strong> <\/em>are beloved for good reason. Devastating as they are, divorce stories are very much about love, even its end. If that\u2019s sounding a little too bleak, Eichner has it covered \u2014 <em>Ex-Husbands<\/em> is decisively a comedy.<\/p>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><em>Billy On The Street<\/em> <\/strong>creator is famously hilarious as he frequently reiterated throughout the five seasons of the show, along with his roles on <em><strong>Bob\u2019s Burgers<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>New Girl,<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Friends from College<\/strong><\/em>. To help work on the project, Eichner is teaming up with an extremely talented crew which he expressed excitement about in the film\u2019s official announcement. As if separating isn\u2019t complex enough, the exes have to deal with being in the spotlight because they were NYC\u2019s first legally married gay couple and became the poster boys for LGBTQ+ love and acceptance. This makes their divorce exponentially more epic (and more public than any breakup should be). It\u2019s been described as a \u201c<em>War of the Roses<\/em>-style battle for the ages\u201d as they viciously fight to become <em>Ex-Husbands<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The film\u2019s story is credited to Eichner and <strong>Paul Rudnick<\/strong>, with the former having penned the screenplay. Eichner is also attached to star in the film, which he\u2019ll produce alongside Berlanti\/Schechter Films.<\/p>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 --><\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the only groundbreaking project coming from Eichner. Earlier this year, he announced his upcoming Judd Apatow-produced, Nicholas Stoller-directed rom-com\u00a0<em>Bros<\/em>\u00a0about two men with serious commitment issues deciding to settle down together.
