If you\u2019re on your way to a friend\u2019s house and they\u2019re wondering where you are, you can share your progress as you make your journey.<\/p>\n<p>To access this feature, you\u2019ll need to tap the Google Maps button in iMessage. From there, a preview will appear, letting you know how long your location will be shared. If you want to stop sharing your location, there\u2019s a \u201cStop\u201d button you can tap on the thumbnail.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"More_New_Google_Maps_Features\"><\/span>More New Google Maps Features<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Google wasn\u2019t content to roll out one new feature for Maps. Instead, the company also added some useful\u00a0widgets.<\/p>\n<p>First, the company added a widget that shows you traffic in your im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te area. Google also added a new Google Maps search widget that allows you to either type what you\u2019re looking for or tap a button to see nearby restaurants, gas stations, your home, or your workplace.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 629px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-745755 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/widgets_side_by_side.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Google Maps Widgets\" width=\"629\" height=\"249\" data-credittext=\"Google\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\">Google<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>To use these, you\u2019ll need to add the Google Maps widget (here\u2019s how to add a widget on iPhone or iPad) to your home screen and then choose which one you want to add. (Or you can add both!)<\/p>\n<p>This feature and the live location sharing are rolling out now, though we weren\u2019t able to access either feature as of this writing<\/p>\n<p>The last addition to Google Maps is a dark mode, which is par for the course for many apps nowadays.
