This beach fail is a head and shoulders above the rest. <\/p>\n

Britain\u2019s Leanne Gresty has become the universal example of how not<\/em> to apply sunblock after a recent jaunt left her with a scorching hot handprint tan.<\/p>\n

On a day trip<\/a> to the New Brighton, Merseyside beach with her family last month, the 35-year-old haphazardly slapped a hand of sunblock over each shoulder. When she subsequently burned, the handprints were the only part of her that didn\u2019t, and the burn is the envy of single ladies everywhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t burn often, so I didn\u2019t ask anybody to put it on for me,\u201d she told Kennedy News<\/a> Wire. \u201cWhere the sun cream had been, obviously it had worked. Those hand marks were there for a couple of days afterwards.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Initially, when her sister first noticed the humorous tan line, she thought it was a result of Gresty\u2019s daughter\u2019s sand antics.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n

\u2018I could have said some sexy hunk had his arms around me the whole time. That would have been a better story.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t even really feel the marks were there at first. It was my sister who said \u2018Oh, somebody\u2019s put sand on your back,\u2019\u201d Gresty said. \u201cMy daughter had put her hands on my back after she\u2019d been playing in the sand, but when my sister tried brushing it off, it wouldn\u2019t come off.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was at that point that she realized \u201cOh god, that\u2019s where I put my sun cream on!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

While she was the only one who walked away from the beach that day with her own handprints demarcated on her back, her whole family burnt that day, she noted defensively. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t just me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She immedia<\/a>tely saw the humor in the situation, though.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For days after, strangers would comment on her hilarious tan lines, Gresty said.<\/figcaption>

\u201cI thought it was hilarious straight away,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Strangers also found it quite amusing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen people point it out, we\u2019ve been having a laugh about it,\u201d she said. \u201cTwo or three days later, I was walking down the street, and this lad on a bike rode past me. As he went by, he just yelled \u2018S\u2013t man, that looks sore!\u2019 I said back, \u2018Yeah, it is a bit.\u2019 Then that same day, I walked past this young girl, and she shouted to me \u2018Oh my god, look at those big hand marks on your back!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

So many people commented, she considered changing the story of how the prints ended up caressing her back.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI could have said some sexy hunk had his arms around me the whole time. That would have been a better story. It would have been more exciting,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her real hope, however, is that people learn from her mistake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully what people did think when they saw the marks was \u2018Ooh, that\u2019s an effective sun cream,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cIt shows that it\u2019s efficient and good when you use it in the right places.\u201d<\/p>\n
