A Pennsylvania school board president has come under fire and faces calls to step down after cutting off an Iranian woman who spoke out against critical race theory during a board meeting.<\/p>\n

Anita Edgarian, an Iranian immigrant and mother of three, voiced her concerns to the West Chester school district about CRT, a doctrine that posits that racism underpins America\u2019s history, laws and institutions, according to Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She told the board at its July 26 meeting that she grew up during the Iranian Revolution and witnessed her \u201cmotherland\u201d being \u201cravaged by communism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edgarian also accused retiring Superintendent Jim Scanlon of creating divisions and \u201cleaving a mess\u201d \u2014 and described her home as \u201cthe International House of Pancakes\u201d because her kids\u2019 friends are diverse.<\/p>\n

But when she asked if teachers were being taught CRT, board President Chris McCune said, \u201cAnita, you\u2019re at time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no,\u201d she said, but he insisted that she was, app<\/a>roached her at the podium, took the microphone and told her to leave, according to the report.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is shameful,\u201d McCune said as she was being removed by police. \u201cWe\u2019ve had a respectful meeting up until you. You bombarded up there, and now you want to monopolize the meeting. Not happening. You\u2019re gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview with \u201cFox & Friends,\u201d Edgarian said: \u201cBy the time I asked that question, he was already coming toward me. And so that\u2019s a clarification because my parents have raised me better.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Republican Committee of Chester County is calling for the school board president to resign or attend anger management counseling.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are writing to condemn the conduct of West Chester Area District school board president Chris McCune for his reprehensible action at the public meeting on Monday, July 26,\u201d the group wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the public comment time, the mother of three children in the school district decried the division that has been created over whether or not Critical Race Theory is being used in our school,\u201d the GOP committee said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a legal immigrant from Iran, who has experienced first-hand the threat of communism and Muslim theocracy, the speaker was cautioning against the same thing happening here,\u201d it continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cWCASD has a zero-policy toward bullying, the very behavior Mr. McCune displayed as he was unable to control his anger \u2026 since he refuses to apologize for his behavior, we and others in the West Chester community are calling for his resignation from the board,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

Edgarian told \u201cFox & Friends\u201d that she has \u201cfriends on both sides of the aisle.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFriends and, you know, close friends sometimes. And you know, so I don\u2019t want my kids to grow up feeling that they cannot talk to this person or that person. And I just wanted to know and, you know, the best thing is to come out and frankly ask the question,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

CRT has in recent months become a flashpoint in a partisan debate over how to address racism in United States institutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A school district in California earlier this month devoted a staggering $40 million to implement \u201cethnic studies\u201d lessons based on Critical Race Theory.<\/p>\n

In June, Rep. Dan Crenshaw of Texas\u00a0said\u00a0\u201cprioritizing woke training over actual war fighting\u201d is a national security threat, after\u00a0a\u00a0report\u00a0found that members of the Navy are more focused on diversity training than combatting enemies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fox News said the West Chester school district did not respond to its request for comment.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
