“#Broadway returns with first performance since COVID shutdowns<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Broadway has lifted the curtain for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down theaters and threatened the future of the Great White Way.<\/p>\n

The audience was packed with guests wearing masks Wednesday night at the August Wilson Theater for previews\u00a0of \u201cPass Over,\u201d the first production to return to Broadway in nearly 17 months.<\/p>\n

Guests were required to show proof of vaccination as well as keep on their masks in the theater, except while eating and drinking in designated areas. <\/p>\n

The performance was followed by an outdoor block party on 52nd Street to celebrate Broadway\u2019s return.<\/p>\n

Several of Broadway\u2019s biggest shows, including \u201cHamilton,\u201d \u201cThe Lion King\u201d and \u201cWicked,\u201d have begun selling tickets for their returns on Sept. 14.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve taken a lot of steps not only to make sure the theater will be safe for our audience members, but to make sure that our cast and crew have been trained in anti-racism training, also making sure that we as a brand are pushing forward social<\/a> justice,\u201d said actress,\u00a0Krystal Joy Brown, who plays Alexander Hamilton\u2019s wife, Eliza, in \u201cHamilton.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
