It\u2019s the feature directorial debut of <strong>James Ashcroft<\/strong>, and it\u2019s one of those debuts that is so assured that it practically forces you to take note of the director\u2019s name so you can pay attention to whatever they do next.<\/p>\n<p>Dark Sky Films has picked up <em>Coming Home in the Dark<\/em> and will release it this fall, and today the company put out a new trailer and poster to give audiences a sense of what to expect. But despite this good trailer, I don\u2019t think it properly prepares you for just how much this movie puts its protagonists (and the audience) through the metaphorical wringer.<span id=\"more-691407\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Coming Home In The Dark - Official Movie Trailer (2021)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kvj24PTQa7Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Coming_Home_in_the_Dark_Trailer\"><\/span>Coming Home in the Dark Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->\u201cYou won\u2019t exactly\u00a0<em>enjoy<\/em>\u00a0this movie, but you might very well be awed by its emotional power,\u201d \/Film\u2019s Chris Evangelista wrote in his review of this film from Sundance, and I tend to agree with him.\u00a0<strong>Erik Thomson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Miriama<\/strong> <strong>McDowell<\/strong>, <strong>Matthias Luafutu<\/strong>, and <strong>Daniel Gillies<\/strong> make up the primary cast, with Gillies turning in a threatening, mesmerizing performance that you won\u2019t soon forget. He\u2019s the ostensible villain of the piece, but as the movie unspools, you realize that his character could very easily be the hero of a different story.
