One of those shows will be Amazon\u2019s new series <strong><em>Utopia<\/em><\/strong>, an adaptation of the 2013 British series of the same name that is in the hands of <em>Gone Girl<\/em> writer Gillian Flynn, who is serving as creator, executive producer,\u00a0writer, and showrunner.<\/p>\n<p><em> Utopia<\/em> focuses on a group of comic book nerds who became friends online after dissecting every detail of a popular fictional comic book called <em>Dystopia<\/em>. With a sequel called <em>Utopia<\/em> finally close to arrival, the gang gets together at a convention to get a sneak peek, but they suddenly find themselves being chased by trained assassins who are trying to stop anyone from reading it. Before the panel reveals even more about the series later this week, a few <em>Utopia<\/em> first look photos have surfaced online.<span id=\"more-627567\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Utopia_First_Look_Photos\"><\/span>Utopia First Look Photos<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Utopia First Look Photos\" height=\"467\"  src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/utopia-usversion-maincharacters-full-700x467.jpg\"  width=\"700\"><\/img><\/p>\n<p>Entertainment Weekly has our first look at <em>Utopia<\/em>, revealing the main characters Ian (<strong>Dan Byrd<\/strong>),\u00a0Wilson Wilson (<strong>Desmin Borges<\/strong>), Samantha (<strong>Jessica Rothe<\/strong>), and Becky (<strong>Ashleigh LaThrop<\/strong>), seen above from left to right.<\/p>\n<p>So why do trained killers want to kill a bunch of nerds obsessed with a comic? They might get some answers from Jessica Hyde (<strong>Sasha Lane<\/strong>), the protagonist at the center of the comic book they love so much. It turns out that Jessica is not a fictional character at all, and she thinks that <em>Utopia<\/em> has something to do with her father going missing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Utopia First Look Photos\" height=\"467\"  src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/utopia-usversion-johncusack-700x467.jpg\"  width=\"700\"><\/img><\/p>\n<p>Also part of the story is Kevin Christie, a billionaire philanthropist played by <strong>John Cusack<\/strong>. This is a character who wasn\u2019t part of the original series in the UK, and it\u2019s part of Gillian Flynn\u2019s desire to add more of a focus on government conspiracies and make the series feel like it wasn\u2019t just treading the same territory. Flynn told EW:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of all those conspiracy thrillers that came out after Watergate. All of [the British <em>Utopia<\/em>] plays very sleekly. I wanted mine to play bumpy, dirty, raw, real\u2014like you\u2019re walking on the gum on the sidewalk and smelling the garbage in the alley.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kevin Christie has some kind of connection to a new disease that\u2019s being studied by Dr. Michael Stearns, played by <em>The Office<\/em> favorite <strong>Rainn Wilson<\/strong>. How does this tie in to the plot with the mysterious comic book Utopia? You\u2019ll probably have to watch the series to find out.<\/p>\n<p>A series adaptation of <em>Utopia<\/em> was once in the works at HBO with David Fincher attached to it. He came close to getting it off the ground, and even had a cast assembled to make it h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en. But Fincher and HBO disagreed on the budget, he walked away from the project, and it ended up shifting over to Amazon.
