Current Jeopardy!<\/em> champion Matt Amodio continues his impressive run as he now becomes the eighth biggest winner in show history, and he did so with a massive wager.<\/p>\n

The graduate student from New Haven, Connecticut, was aiming for his tenth consecutive win on Tuesday\u2019s episode and only had a slim lead of $1600. But when he landed on a Daily Double, Amodio made a bold play by betting his entire prize pot of $13,000. This risky tactic stunned viewers, who took to social media<\/a> to share their reactions.<\/p>\n

\u201cI almost had a heart attack!!!!\u201d wrote one fan in response to Amodio\u2019s gutsy gamble. \u201cMy palms were sweating for you,\u201d commented another viewer. Even Amodio himself felt the pressure as he watched the episode back. \u201cI\u2019m still terrified,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n

However, Amodio had nothing to worry about, as he correctly answered \u201cWhat\u2019s Commonwealth?\u201d to the question regarding Australia becoming its own nation in 1901. With that, Amodio doubled his money and took control of the board, earning the respect of the Jeopardy!<\/em> faithful at the same time.<\/p>\n

Amodio\u2019s jaw-dropping play catapulted him to his tenth win in a row and helped add $52,000 to his total of $362,400. \u201cWow,\u201d said current guest-host David Faber after reading the amount out loud. And Amodio is already thinking about what he\u2019s going to spend his earnings on.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, so I\u2019ve never actually owned the ground that I stand on before. And real estate can be a very good investment. So that might be where I go,\u201d the Yale student said.<\/p>\n

The official Jeopardy!<\/em> Twitter account also cleared up the previous confusion about Amodio answering \u201cWhat is?\u201d to every clue regardless of whether it is a person or thing. \u201cThat\u2019s totally acceptable!\u201d the tweet read alongside a link to the official Jeopardy!<\/em> rules.<\/p>\n

According to the rules, \u201c\u2026all contestant responses to an answer must be phrased in the form of a question.\u201d But the show doesn\u2019t require that the response is grammatically correct. \u201cFurther, the three-letter name of a British Invasion rock band can be a correct response all by itself (\u201cThe Who?\u201d), and even \u201cIs it\u2026?\u201d has been accepted. So, Matt Amodio\u2019s no-frills app<\/a>roach is unique but well with guidelines,\u201d the website reads.<\/p>\n

And, of course, Jeopardy!<\/em> superfan Amodio clarified that he carries a copy of the rules with him at all times.<\/p>\n
