“#Meghan McCain blasts Chris Cuomo for nepotism over Andrew coverage<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d co-host Meghan McCain on Wednesday slammed Chris Cuomo as an example of \u201cthe worst kind of nepotism\u201d after the CNN host failed to cover the sexual harassment scandal engulfing his brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n

The daughter of late Arizona Sen. John McCain was referencing a debate about nepotism she had on \u201cThe View\u201d last week when she commented on the scathing official report into the allegations against the governor during Wednesday morning\u2019s show.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou want to talk about nepotism?,\u201d McCain said, \u201cNot having to talk about the biggest scandal in the country when it has to do with your brother and you\u2019re hosting CNN, that\u2019s nepotism.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cuomo family and CNN are the worst kind of nepotism that the media<\/a> has an example of,\u201d she railed.<\/p>\n

McCain blasted Chris Cuomo and network as \u201ccowards,\u201d saying that if her brother was governor and accused of sexual harassment, \u201cyou are damn straight I\u2019d be talking about it on \u2018The View\u2019 this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her comments came after the \u201cCuomo Prime Time\u201d host ignored his older brother\u2019s growing scandal on his show Tuesday night, focusing instead on the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Don Lemon, who hosts the program airing directly after Chris Cuomo\u2019s show, immediately went into coverage of growing calls for Andrew Cuomo\u2019s resignation, following an awkward handoff.<\/p>\n

McCain, who is set to leave \u201cThe View\u201d at the end of the week, also called on the governor to either resign or be forced out of office \u2014 and said Chris should face \u201cretribution\u201d too, for the app<\/a>arent double-standard in how he covers his sibling.<\/p>\n

She pointed out that Andrew made\u00a0regular appearances on<\/a>\u00a0his brother\u2019s 9 p.m. show at the height of the coronavirus pandemic,\u00a0engaging in often-cringey banter\u00a0that initially helped boost the ratings for the cable program The two would joke around during the segments, including about the governor\u2019s relationship status.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo when he\u2019s fine, its OK to air it,\u201d she said, asking, \u201cthat\u2019s journalism?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all disgusting,\u201d McCain said.<\/p>\n

Last week, during a segment about nepotism in Hollywood on the ABC show, McCain had whined that, \u201cEvery single door I\u2019ve ever walked in my entire life, people automatically assume you\u2019re going to be a lazy, spoiled brat that won\u2019t contribute anything because you have famous parents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI no longer care. I think my work and my work ethic speaks for itself,\u201d she had said.<\/p>\n

Some viewers on Wednesday saw McCain\u2019s comments about the Cuomos as hypocritical \u2014 noting that she\u2019s the child of a prominent politician who snagged a lucrative TV gig, just like Chris, whose late father was former New York Governor Mario Cuomo.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeghan McCain was projecting with that nepotism comment,\u201d another user wrote<\/a>. \u201cYou know we look at YOU as the poster child for nepotism. Hush!\u201d<\/p>\n

The scathing report, released by state Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James\u2019 office,\u00a0named Chris as one of several outside advisors who were provided confidential and privileged information by the Executive Chamber as the governor tried to respond to a slew of sexual harassment allegations earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Independent investigators found that Chris sent an\u00a0email to the other advisors\u00a0with a proposed statement he appeared to have drafted or edited on his brother\u2019s behalf in response to sexual harassment allegations from\u00a0ex-aide Charlotte Bennett.<\/p>\n

It was revealed in May that Chris had advised the governor\u00a0on how to deal with the accusations, landing both Cuomo brothers in hot water and prompting CNN to issue an apology.<\/p>\n

The TV-journalist also admitted that advising his brother\u00a0was a mistake and apologized\u00a0for putting his colleagues \u201cin a bad spot.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s previously told viewers that he \u201cobviously\u201d would not be covering the sexual harassment allegations against his brother because it is a conflict of interest \u2014 one that some have noted didn\u2019t seemed to exist when things were going well for the governor.<\/p>\n

CNN\u00a0in February\u00a0reinstated a ban\u00a0on Chris covering his sibling after an\u00a0exclusive Post report\u00a0found his administration covered up thousands of nursing home COVID-19 deaths.<\/p>\n

The network didn\u2019t immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
