{"id":316420,"date":"2021-08-05T22:45:04","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T19:45:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/schools-focused-on-outdoor-learning-growing-in-popularity-amid-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2021-08-05T22:45:04","modified_gmt":"2021-08-05T19:45:04","slug":"schools-focused-on-outdoor-learning-growing-in-popularity-amid-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/schools-focused-on-outdoor-learning-growing-in-popularity-amid-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"#Schools focused on outdoor learning growing in popularity amid pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Schools focused on outdoor learning growing in popularity amid pandemic<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>While some\u00a0schools\u00a0are planning to reopen for in-person or distance learning, the Nature Kin Farm and Forest School has its sights on outdoor learning.<\/p>\n<p>The new academy, which was founded by Dr. Jean Lomino in 2021, will open on Thursday, Aug. 12, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>At the Nature Kin Farm and Forest School,\u00a0students\u00a0between the ages of 9 and 11 will have <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>, math, business, language arts and history classes in addition to a nature-focused curriculum that includes gardening, animal husbandry and student-led exploration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe school is located on the 50-acre, Rowell family farm at Lookout Lake that includes wetlands, creek, forests, meadows and a lake, making it an ideal outdoor classroom\/STEM laboratory,\u201d Lomino, who is the school\u2019s director, told FOX <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> via email.<\/p>\n<p>She went on, \u201cThe forest school philosophy is based on the fact that nature provides the context for all learning and provides meaningful, holistic, and real-life experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So far, the Nature Kin Farm and Forest School has 10 to 12 full-day students enrolled. Lomino said the school has an \u201cequal number\u201d of half-day students who are enrolled in programs for kids between ages 9 and 11 and 12 and 17.<\/p>\n<p>All classes will be conducted outdoors with an exception of a few cooking classes and any \u201cother pursuit\u201d that might require an indoor setting.<\/p>\n<p>According to Lomino, enrolled students will engage in \u201cengage in outdoor\u00a0learning in all weather conditions, throughout all four seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"903\" height=\"1024\" alt=\"Jean Lomino and Diana Meadows first became acquainted in the fall of 2014 at her Learning Center located on the family farm at Lookout Lake. I believe that occurs because there are no walls around them and no ceiling above. Their spirits soar.
