A Colombian mayor baffled his social media<\/a> followers after sharing a video of an alleged ghost attacking one of his security guards. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to share this video with you today, emphasizing that, as mayor, I have the conviction that faith has insurmountable power,\u201d wrote Jose Manuel Rios Morales, mayor of Armenia, above an Aug. 3 Facebook video<\/a> of the supposed phantom beatdown. The official claimed that that the spectral assault took place in his offices while guards were conducting their nightly patrols, News<\/a>flash reported. <\/p>\n

In the grainy, minute-long clip, the hapless officer can be seen strolling down the hallway before veering violently into a wall, as if flung by a supernatural entity. <\/p>\n

The guard then tries to crawl along the ground, where he app<\/a>ears to resist an invisible force tugging him along, \u00e0 la<\/em> Freddy Krueger\u2019s mid-slumber smackdown<\/a> from \u201cA Nightmare on Elm Street.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spooky footage concludes with two of the prone man\u2019s fellow watchmen rushing to his aid. <\/p>\n

However, the public need not fret that the halls of government are potentially haunted: Mayor Morales assured us that he has enlisted a special team of religious ghostbusters to help exorcise the phantom menace. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want to give everyone a little peace of mind and let them know that, in the company of the Bishop and other religious leaders, we will bring God\u2019s blessing to every corner of this workplace,\u201d claimed the government leader. \u201cWe ask for respect and a union in prayer, and we assure you that nothing can steal our peace and tranquillity because we are protected by the hand of our Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, others were more skeptical. \u201cThe least they\u2019ll say now is that the ghost is embezzling from the mayor\u2026\u201d snarked one critic, while another posted a gif of a fake UFO with the caption, \u201cI Want To Believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time a supposed paranormal encounter has caused a stir on social media. This past February, urban explorers received the fright of a lifetime after spotting a mysterious figure while perusing a notorious, derelict nursing home in the UK.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
