\n If you thought snagging a reservation at popular Big App<\/a>le eateries was hard before the coronavirus pandemic \u2014 think again.<\/p>\n

Since outdoor-only dining kicked off in New York City nearly one month ago amid the coronavirus crisis, reservations have been even tougher to get as some restaurants have been scheduling reservations two to four weeks in advance, Eater.com reported Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Popular city eateries like Wayla on the Lower East Side, Rezd\u00f4ra in the Flatiron District, and Lilia in Williamsburg started listing their street, curbside and backyard tables on online reservation platforms earlier this month \u2014 and within hours, nearly all of their tables were already booked two weeks in advance, according to the food news<\/a> site.<\/p>\n

When Lilia reopened for outdoor dining, the Italian restaurant was booked a month-out that same day, Eater reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople want to eat a sit-down meal that f\u2013king badly,\u201d Greg Baxtrom, the chef and owner of hit Prospect Heights restaurant Olmsted told Eater.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn\u2019s Olmsted \u2014 like many eateries in the new age of the COVID-19 pandemic \u2014 has switched to a reservation-only strategy for outdoor dining.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t afford to not have every table filled right now,\u201d said Baxtrom, explaining that before the health crisis Olmsted reserved half of its tables for walk-in customers and did not accept reservations on Mondays.<\/p>\n

Keeping some tables open for walk-ins would be too much of a financial risk, the restaurateur said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery single table that we have is going to be listed on Resy [a restaurant reservations app],\u201d Baxtrom said. \u201cIt has to be that way. If one table doesn\u2019t show up, we\u2019re going to feel that loss of business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rezd\u00f4ra co-owner David Switzer told Eater that effecting a reservation-only business model was also due to safety matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe more that you have planned out, the more precautions you can take,\u201d Switzer said.<\/p>\n

Some restaurants are now even implementing time-limits on tables to get more customers in.<\/p>\n

Financially-starved city eateries and bars opened for outdoor dining on June 22 after being shut down for months \u2014 and under Mayor Bill de Blasio\u2019s restaurant plan they were permitted to expand seating on sidewalks and in curb lanes out front.<\/p>\n

Since then more than 8,000 restaurants across the five boroughs have self-certified with the city to utilize outdoor dining.<\/p>\n

And predictably, the most difficult restaurants to get a reservation at right now are some of the same food joints that New Yorkers had trouble getting seated at before the pandemic.<\/p>\n

A Resy spokesperson confirmed to The Post that Manhattan restaurants like Wayla, Pastis, Le Crocodile, Don Angie, Carbone, and the recently-opened Dante West Village have been among the eateries with the most sought-after reservations, as well as Brooklyn joints like Olmsted, Oxomoco and Miss Ada.<\/p>\n

However, at some popular Big Apple restaurants like Miss Ada and Carbone reservations are still a bit easier to come by than during pre-pandemic times, since fewer people are currently dining out, Eater reported.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
