Chicago escooter company Veoride\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/veoride-unveils-groundbreaking-helmet-detection-technology-using-ai-300923742.html\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">debuted helmet detection tech in 2020<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Riders upload a photo of themselves wearing a helmet to the VeoApp and receive a ride discount.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Voi_pilots_computer_vision_for_safer_escooter_rides\"><\/span>Voi pilots computer vision for safer escooter rides<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the UK, Voi is underway with trials of a world-first large-scale pilot of computer vision for shared escooters. AI <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> detects when an escooter leaves the road and rides on a sidewalk or when the vehicle is parked incorrectly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company can also see if an escooter is standing up and parked in a rack. Users riding on the sidewalk receive an audible alarm. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In a future phase, the pilot will explore automatically slowing scooters for sidewalk riding or dangerous riding in heavily pedestrianized areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Currently, Voi credits riders who end their <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> in recommended parking spots, and send a photo of their park to the Voi app. The app fines riders for incorrect parking in some cities. Since introducing the \u2018end of ride photo\u2019 feature in early March, illegal parking has decreased 45% in Liverpool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Data from the pilot will be shared with the council to collect\u00a0data-driven insights into escooter use and their interactions with other modes of transport and pedestrians.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Vehicle_Intelligence_goes_underneath_the_hood\"><\/span>Vehicle Intelligence goes underneath the hood<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">AI also provides vehicle safety insights. MIT spin-off Superpedestrian has developed a proprietary Vehicle Intelligence system to detect and protect against more than 100 common malfunctions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Within nanoseconds, the scooters can detect potential problems such as battery fires, short circuits, or failed brakes and take corrective action to avert damage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Spin,\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spin.app\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the micromobility unit of Ford Motor Company<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, has launched a Pedestrian Defense system that can detect dangerous behavior such as riding on the sidewalk, riding the wrong way down a one-way street, and aggressive swerving. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The software can slow down and stop rides autonomously and alert riders to rule violations. There\u2019s also the ability to generation collision reports in the event of a crash.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Pedestrian Defense - LINK Scooters by Superpedestrian\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3kSYnFPc80Y?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">At the end of each ride, riders receive a Safety Rating, and those that improve receive ride discounts. Repeat offenders cannot use the escooters again, which chronicles both unsafe and safe behaviors. Technology already exists to help address the problem.
