It\u2019s been a long time, indeed.<\/p>\n

But, finally, all the dope beats that Aaliyah<\/a> left us to step to \u2014 after she died in a plane crash 20 years ago on Aug. 25, 2001 \u2014 will finally be available to stream soon.<\/p>\n

For years, Blackground Records \u2014 Aaliyah\u2019s former label, which was founded by her uncle, Barry Hankerson, and owns her masters \u2014 has been battling with the singer\u2019s estate<\/a>, which is controlled by her mother, Diane Haughton, over the digital release of her music.<\/p>\n

So aside from her debut album, 1994\u2019s \u201cAge Ain\u2019t Nothing But a Number,\u201d none of Aaliyah\u2019s other music \u2014 including hits such as \u201cOne in a Million,\u201d \u201cTry Again\u201d and \u201cAre You That Somebody?\u201d<\/a> \u2014 has previously been available to stream or download<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the 20th anniversary of\u00a0Aaliyah\u2019s death approaching, that will all change when her second album, 1996\u2019s \u201cOne in a Million,\u201d hits streaming services on Aug. 20.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then, on Sept. 3, the soundtrack to the 2000 movie \u201cRomeo Must Die\u201d \u2014 in which Aaliyah co-starred with Jet Li and DMX \u2014 will let us finally hear her No. 1 smash \u201cTry Again\u201d<\/a> on repeat.<\/p>\n

And, finally, Aaliyah\u2019s self-titled 2001 album \u2014 released the month before her death and featuring hits such as \u201cMore Than a Woman\u201d<\/a> and \u201cRock the Boat\u201d \u2014 will hit streaming platforms on Sept. 10, followed by her greatest-hits set, \u201cI Care 4 U,\u201d on Oct. 8.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a shame it took 20 years, but Babygirl\u2019s music deserves to be heard.<\/p>\n
