It turns out, however, that Gunn had another potential role in mind for his fellow MCU director. We see him in flashbacks his daughter recalls \u2014 where the two of them lived on the street. Through these flashbacks we get Ratcatcher II\u2019s origin story \u2014 her dad (Waititi) created the device that let him and her control millions of tiny furry creatures including the d<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er Sebastian.<\/p>\n<p>More importantly, Waititi\u2019s heartfelt scenes with Mechior also give us an understanding of why Ratcatcher II is the least emotionally messed up of all the Task Force X members \u2014 she had a good dad.<\/p>\n<p>While Waititi as Ratcatcher was a small but poignant part in a movie full of violent, spectacular deaths, Gunn initially had larger role in mind for the writer-director. Scheduling conflicts, however, got in the way.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indiewire.com\/2021\/08\/the-suicide-squad-cast-taika-waititi-1234652679\/\">IndieWire<\/a>, Gunn explains what happened:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI actually thought about Taika for another role and I offered it to him and he said, I don\u2019t know\u2026.\u2019 He was working on \u2018Akira\u2019 at the time, and he said, \u2018I had to give you my answer in like two weeks,\u2019 he totally wanted to do it. It was one of the other superheroes. And he said that he wanted to do it and <em>then<\/em> \u2018Akira\u2019 got greenlit and it was happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Gunn declined to say which particular superhero he had in mind for Waititi. I doubt it was Weasel (<strong>Sean Gunn<\/strong>), King Shark (<strong>Steve Agee\/Sylvester Stallone<\/strong>) or <strong>Michael Rooker\u2019<\/strong>s character, Fabio (AKA Savant), as Gunn regularly casts Rooker, Agee and his brother in his <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>. It likely wasn\u2019t Captain Boomerang either (<strong>Jai Courtney<\/strong>), given Courtney was reprising his role from <strong>David Ayer<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Suicide Squad <\/em>movie. Mongal (<strong>Mayling Ng<\/strong>) is a female character from the comics, so she\u2019s unlikely as well.<\/p>\n<p>That still leaves several options. TDK? Javelin? Blackguard? Polka-Dot Man, even? It\u2019s hard to imagine which one, as all the actors play their parts splendidly.<\/p>\n<p>Waititi eventually made his way into the film when Warner Bros. stopped work on <em>Akira<\/em>. \u201c[Taika] wrote me and he said, \u2018Oh, [the] f***ing movie fell apart. Is that role is still available?,\u2019\u201d Gunn told IndieWire. \u201cAnd I said, \u201cNo, but let me get you in something else.\u2019\u201d<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_3 -->That something else is the best dad, a character that gives some whimsical warmth to the whole production.
