Whether or not Peacemaker was your favorite character, you better get used to seeing his face around on HBO Max\u2026 Below is everything you need to stay updated on the upcoming DCEU series,<em><strong>\u00a0Peacemaker<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Peacemaker_Release_Date_and_Where_You_Can_Watch_It\"><\/span>Peacemaker Release Date and Where You Can Watch It<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post -->Although no exact release date has been announced, we can expect<em>\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em> to premiere in <strong>January 2022<\/strong> when the series will stream exclusively on <strong>HBO Max<\/strong>. Work on<em>\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em> begun quickly after production on <em>The Suicide Squad<\/em>, and filming wrapped just last month. So not only is the wait not too long, to begin with, its creator has already hinted at the possibility of a season 2.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_Peacemaker\"><\/span>What Is Peacemaker?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Peacemaker<\/em> continues the world <strong>James Gunn<\/strong> introduced with his DCEU ensemble film <em>The Suicide Squad. <\/em>There we met the titular Peacemaker for the very first time, a prison-bound menace who is released by intelligence officer Amanda Waller (<strong>Viola Davis<\/strong>) to complete a top-secret mission for the U.S. Government. He teams up with a squad of villains and thus, exciting action ensues. But long before this, Peacemaker was his own, terrible person \u2014 and that\u2019s what his series will be about.<\/p>\n<p>Gunn has used many descriptive words when referencing this character,\u00a0including \u201cdouchey\u201d and simply sharing that he \u201csucks.\u201d The series will delve further into his origins and exploits before the start of the film, and possibly provide justification for his unfortunate personality.<em>\u00a0Peacemaker<\/em>\u00a0is also expected to have an ensemble at its core, with a big sci-fi storyline to guide them. But that may be where its similarities to the film end because Gunn has also dubbed the series \u201cmore grounded, more natural and more real.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Peacemaker_Cast\"><\/span>Peacemaker\u00a0 Cast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>John Cena<\/strong> is set to reprise his role as Christopher Smith, better known as Peacemaker. Cena\u2019s character is a ruthless killer who strives to achieve peace, by any means possible. Cena will be rejoined by <strong>John Economos<\/strong> as Steve Agee, the warden of Belle Reeve, and aide to Amanda Waller who also appeared with Cena in <em>The Suicide Squad<\/em>. Also returning is<strong> Jennifer Holland<\/strong> who played Emilia Harcourt, another aide to Waller.<\/p>\n<p>Newcomer to the DCEU <strong>Freddie Stroma<\/strong> will play Adrian Chase, a district attorney who doubles as a crime fighter. Also starring in the series is <strong>Robert Patrick, Danielle Brooks, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christopher Heyerdahl, Elizabeth Ludlow, Rizwan Manji, Nhut Le, Alison Araya,<\/strong> and <strong>Lenny Jacobson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Peacemaker_Director_Crew_and_More\"><\/span>Peacemaker Director, Crew, and More<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->Fresh off of his work on<em> The Suicide Squad<\/em>, writer-director James Gunn began planning the <em>Peacemaker<\/em> spin-off series. All eight episodes of the first season were written by Gunn, who also doubled as a director for five of them. Directing the remaining three episodes are\u00a0<strong>Jody Hill<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Observe and Report<\/em>),\u00a0<strong>Brad Anderson<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Session 9<\/em>), and\u00a0<strong>Rosemary Rodriguez<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Jessica Jones<\/em>).
