Gov. Andrew Cuomo hasn\u2019t been seen since state Attorney General<\/a> Tish James\u2019 damning report dropped Tuesday, but he sent his lawyers \u2014\u00a0and anonymous advisers \u2014 to make the case that not one of the 11 women who\u2019ve accused him of sexual harassment (yup, not one!) can be believed.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unconvincing. Rather than refute the allegations, Cuomo\u2019s shills are attacking his accusers and investigators and claiming the gov didn\u2019t get a chance to respond \u2014\u00a0despite 11 hours of testimony in which he gave his side of the story.<\/p>\n

Couple this with his other scandals (the latest: two of his spin doctors work for a firm with $88 million in state contracts),\u00a0and it\u2019s beyond clear he\u2019s simply unfit to continue in office.<\/p>\n

Late Friday afternoon, Cuomo\u2019s lawyers held a virtual press conference insisting the gov \u201cwas ambushed\u201d by a \u201cpredetermined\u201d investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is 63 years old. He has been in public life for four decades,\u201d Rita Glavin groused. \u201cFor him to be all of a sudden accused of sexual assault by an executive assistant he doesn\u2019t really know doesn\u2019t pass muster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sorry, but again: There were 11 <\/em>accusers. They can\u2019t all be lying. And there are charges of unlawful retaliation, too. These young women showed bravery in standing up to the state\u2019s highest elected official \u2014\u00a0whose bullying has been an open secret for years. The executive assistant, who says the gov groped her breast under her blouse, has now filed a criminal complaint with the Albany Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Glavin called Lindsey Boylan\u2019s accusation a \u201ccampaign strategy\u201d in her run for Manhattan borough president, but she said little to actually refute the charge. And she didn\u2019t at all address one of the report\u2019s most shocking stories, that of a state trooper Cuomo bent the rules to get on his protective detail, only to sexually harass her.<\/p>\n

When a reporter asked Glavin why Cuomo, after just one encounter, thought the woman (who lacked the necessary experience) would be excellent for the job, she said, \u201cHe met the trooper and thought she was impressive\u201d \u2014 and wanted more diversity on his detail. What made him think she was impressive? She made \u201ceye contact\u201d and was \u201cassertive,\u201d Glavin said. That\u2019s the standard he used to select someone to guard his life? Please.<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s the ridiculous defense anonymous advisers are offering up: \u201cThis is the first sex scandal in history in which there wasn\u2019t any sex,\u201d one told New York magazine<\/a>. \u201cI am sorry that all of these women felt awkward and felt like something was going to happ<\/a>en, but nothing actually did.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words: Cuomo didn\u2019t succeed in bullying his young staffers into sleeping with him, so what\u2019s the problem? The problem is that\u2019s an abuse of power \u2014 and potentially criminal.<\/p>\n

And it might have led Cuomo to misuse state resources. Josh Vlasto and Rich Bamberger were working in a \u201cpersonal capacity\u201d when they helped Cuomo smear Boylan, PR firm Kivvit says of its managing directors. But the company has gotten $88 million in state contracts since 2018.<\/p>\n

Add to all this Cuomo\u2019s coverup of COVID nursing-home deaths just as he was using state resources to write his $5.1 million \u201cleadership\u201d book. <\/p>\n

Forget it, Gov. You have no defense.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
