Two new members of the US Postal Service\u2019s Board of Governors slammed the agency for its plan to slow delivery of first-class mail.<\/p>\n

Ronald Stroman, one of President Biden\u2019s three new app<\/a>ointees to the board, called the plan \u201cstrategically ill-conceived\u201d Friday, according to a report.<\/a> <\/p>\n

Another new member, Anton Hajjar, worried about a proposed plan to end air mail delivery, saying that potential savings were not \u201cquantified.\u201d <\/p>\n

Stroman, a former deputy Postmaster General<\/a>, said at the board of governors\u2019 meeting that the country was only now beginning to emerge from a global pandemic and that first-class mail delivery was far below pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n

The changes, he added, \u201cdisproportionally impact our seniors, middle- and low-income Americans, [and] small businesses, who are our most loyal customers and most dependent on us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced his 10-year plan to restructure the Postal Service in March. The cost-cutting plan calls for streamlining operations and reducing the reliance on air service to deliver the mail.<\/p>\n
