French runner Morhad Amdouni caused a stir during the Olympic men\u2019s marathon Sunday when he knocked over a row of water bottles at a hydration station before grabbing the last one for himself. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll probably let the audience be the judge as to whether that\u2019s been done deliberately,\u201d former track and field Olympian Dave Culbert said on Seven News<\/a> (Australia). <\/p>\n

The 33-year-old Amdouni was sandwiched in between two other runners when he knocked over multiple water bottles during the latter stages of the 26-mile race in Sapp<\/a>oro, Japan, where temperatures climbed to 84 degrees Fahrenheit. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it is pretty hard to grab those drinks,\u201d former track and field Olympian Tamsyn Manou said on the broadcast. \u201cBut it\u2019s not helpful to the athletes behind him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the other athletes, there was another water station just ahead. <\/p>\n

Amdouni placed 17th in the event. Kenya\u2019s Eliud Kipchoge defended his title with a dominant performance, finishing the race in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 38 seconds \u2014 80 seconds ahead of runner-up Abdi Nageeye of the Netherlands\n <\/p><\/div>\n
