“#How to Turn On \u201cDo Not Disturb\u201d While Driving on Google Pixel”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Distracted driving is a big problem, and phones only make it worse. Wouldn\u2019t it be nice if you could automatically block unimportant notifications while you\u2019re driving? If you have a Google Pixel phone, you can do exactly that.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo Not Disturb\u201d can be set up to block notifications automatically for certain situations. This saves you from having to remember to turn it on and off all the time. The Pixel 3 and newer Pixel phones can also set it up to automatically turn on while you\u2019re driving.<\/p>\n

Before you set up Do Not Disturb to run while you\u2019re driving, you\u2019ll need to decide what it actually does<\/em> when it\u2019s enabled. Turning on Do Not Disturb isn\u2019t very useful if you don\u2019t customize it.<\/p>\n

First, swipe down from the top of the screen twice, and then tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu.<\/p>\n

Go to Sound (or \u201cSound & Vibration\u201d) > Do Not Disturb.<\/p>\n

Toward the bottom, tap \u201cSchedules.\u201d<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll see a few pre-made schedules on this page.\u00a0If you\u2019ve\u00a0previously set up \u201cBedtime Mode\u201d\u00a0on your phone, you\u2019ll see that enabled as one of the schedules.<\/p>\n

The one that we\u2019re interested in is \u201cDriving.\u201d Check the box for \u201cDriving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next, tap the gear icon to open the Driving settings.<\/p>\n

At the top, select \u201cBehavior.\u201d<\/p>\n

Make sure that \u201cTurn on Do Not Disturb\u201d is selected from the pop-up message.<\/p>\n

There are a few options on this page. If you always connect to the same Bluetooth device while driving, such as your vehicle\u2019s infotainment system, you can select that. Toggle the switch for \u201cWhen Connected to Bluetooth\u201d and choose a device from the list.<\/p>\n

The other option is \u201cWhen driving is detected.\u201d This will use the motion of your phone to detect when you\u2019re driving.<\/p>\n

Lastly, you can toggle on \u201cTurn on Bluetooth automatically\u201d to have your phone turn on Bluetooth when driving is detected. This will ensure that your Bluetooth devices connect when driving.<\/p>\n
