Mets billionaire owner Steve Cohen tweeted that he \u201cvisited\u201d with the skidding team in the clubhouse before Sunday\u2019s game in Philadelphia, adding the players \u201care ready and in a good frame of mind for this game.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mets have lost 14 of their 23 games since the All-Star break, including five of six on their current road trip<\/a>, to slip into second place in the NL East, 1 \u00bd games behind the Phillies. <\/p>\n

Luis Rojas\u2019 team also is just a half-game ahead of the third-place Braves, who play the Nationals at home on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Veteran catcher James McCann noted the team needs to play with a \u201csense of urgency,\u201d adding, \u201cYou can\u2019t keep saying, \u2018We\u2019ll get them tomorrow, we\u2019ll get them tomorrow,\u2019 because the next thing you know you look up and it will be the middle of September and it will be too late. So there has to be a sense of urgency. But there\u2019s a difference in a sense of urgency and panic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mets (56-54) have scored the second-fewest runs (416) in MLB, ahead of only the lowly Pirates (403).\n <\/p><\/div>\n
