“#State Assembly committee to meet to discuss Cuomo impeachment<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The state Assembly committee expected to move to impeach Gov. Andrew Cuomo will meet Monday morning \u2014 on the heels of his former aide going public with her groping accusations on national TV.<\/p>\n

The legislators will meet in Albany at 9:30 a.m. for updates on its far-reaching investigation of the accused creep, who was given until Friday to submit any information he wanted it to consider in its findings.<\/p>\n

The committee had told him that it was \u201cnearing completion\u201d of the probe and would \u201cconsider potential articles of impeachment.\u201d<\/p>\n

About two-thirds of state Assembly members have already said they favor an impeachment trial if Cuomo continues to refuse to resign despite the blistering report accusing him of sexually harassing 11 women.<\/p>\n

Only a simple majority vote is needed to begin an impeachment trial.<\/p>\n

Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie has already said that it\u2019s \u201cabundantly clear\u201d that Cuomo needs to leave office after he \u201clost the confidence of the Assembly Democratic majority.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the audio of the committee meeting<\/a> will be broadcast live on the web, Cuomo was also hit with a damning TV interview Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCBS This Morning\u201d aired in full the first TV interview with Brittany Commisso, an executive assistant who accused Cuomo of groping her breast and behind and kissing her on the lips.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor needs to be held accountable,\u201d Commisso \u2014 identified only as \u201cExecutive Assistant #1\u201d in Attorney General<\/a> Letitia James\u2019 report \u2014 told the network.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat he did to me was a crime. He broke the law.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commisso last week became the first woman to file a criminal complaint against Cuomo.<\/p>\n

At least five district attorneys have confirmed they are investigating incidents. Albany County Sheriff Craig App<\/a>le said Saturday that Cuomo could face misdemeanor charges if investigators substantiate Commisso\u2019s complaint.<\/p>\n

Cuomo has repeatedly denied all the women\u2019s claims, insisting he is just a touchy-feely, loving leader who is misunderstood. His lawyers have also insisted that the governor was \u201cambushed\u201d by James\u2019 investigation, saying it was rigged against him.<\/p>\n

Leaders including President Biden have called on Cuomo to resign.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the governor\u2019s leading \u2014 and most ferocious \u2014 top aide, Melissa DeRosa, resigned late Sunday after what she called an \u201cemotionally and mentally trying\u201d two years.<\/p>\n
