“#Fauci wants COVID vaccines required for healthcare workers<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Dr. Anthony Fauci has backed requiring COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers who see patients, saying that it\u2019s \u201cinexplicable\u201d that anyone in that field wouldn\u2019t get the shot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very much in favor of mandating if you want to see patients and you want to participate in healthcare, you need to get vaccinated, period,\u201d Fauci said Sunday on NBC News\u2019 \u201cMeet the Press.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

The White House chief medical advisor noted that vaccine mandates aren\u2019t a new concept for healthcare workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see patients at the [National Institue of Health] Clinical Center. If I don\u2019t get the flu vaccine or hepatitis vaccine, I\u2019m not allowed to see patients. So this isn\u2019t something that\u2019s brand new with Covid,\u201d Fauci said.<\/p>\n

Asked if he could imagine a healthcare worker refusing a vaccine, Fauci said he finds such decisions \u201cinexplicable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are a healthcare worker. Your profession \u2014 the thing you\u2019ve devoted your life to \u2014 is to protect people, to make them well, to protect them from disease,\u201d Fauci said.<\/p>\n

Nearly 1,500 hospitals \u2014 around a quarter of all hospitals in the country \u2014 have required employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19, CNN reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But at least seven states have passed laws that forbid vaccine mandates or passports that would require showing proof of vaccination, according to the National Academy for State Health Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In northwestern Montana, Logan Health officials said they would implement vaccine requirements if state law would allow it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWearing a mask whenever you\u2019re in our facilities, that helps, but being able to vaccinate everyone would help more,\u201d chief medical officer, Dr. Doug Nelson,\u00a0told CNN.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
