{"id":319406,"date":"2021-08-09T17:54:50","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T14:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/gates-and-bezos-invest-in-ev-mineral-mining-in-greenland\/"},"modified":"2021-08-09T17:54:50","modified_gmt":"2021-08-09T14:54:50","slug":"gates-and-bezos-invest-in-ev-mineral-mining-in-greenland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/gates-and-bezos-invest-in-ev-mineral-mining-in-greenland\/","title":{"rendered":"#Gates and Bezos invest in EV mineral mining in Greenland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Gates and Bezos invest in EV mineral mining in Greenland<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img-cdn.tnwcdn.com\/image?fit=796%2C417&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn0.tnwcdn.com%2Fwp-content%2Fblogs.dir%2F1%2Ffiles%2F2021%2F08%2FUntitled-design-7-2.jpg&amp;signature=73ed38180c2aef30ecb7eca364f5c80f\" \/><\/p>\n<div>Critical minerals needed for electric vehicles are in high demand and world renowned billionaires are now funding an exploration project in Greenland.<\/p>\n<p><span>Mineral exploration company KoBold Metals, backed by Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg, and Ray Dalio, has signed a joint venture with British mining firm BlueJay in search for nickel, copper, cobalt, and platinum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As per BlueJay\u2019s statement, Kobold will invest $15 million in the\u00a0<span>Disko-Nuussuaq project on Greenland\u2019s west coast in exchange for a 51% stake in the project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Disko-Nuussuaq covers a 2,776 km\u00b2 magmatic massive sulphide area, expected to be rich in nickel, copper, platinum, and cobalt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In fact, based on BlueJay\u2019s studies,<span>\u00a0it has the potential to host mineralization\u00a0similar to the world\u2019s largest nickel\/copper sulphide mine, Norilsk-Talnakh in Siberia, Russia.\u00a0<\/span><br \/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Disko Nussuaq Ni Cu Co PGM Au Project\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NNQJTh57xGE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>Kobold\u2019s funding will be implemented in a two-stage earn-in commitment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stage 1: By December 31, 2022, $3.4 million will be given for a<span class=\"bf\">dvanced geological and geophysical evaluation of Disko<\/span><span>\u2013<\/span><span class=\"bf\">Nuussuaq to refine drill-targets using KoBold\u2019s proprietary <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Stage 2: By December 31, 2024, $11.6 million will be given to either\u00a0<span>drilling expenditure or 15 pre-agreed drill holes within the Disko license\u00a0area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BlueJay<span>\u00a0will maintain its 49% shareholding by funding its pro-rata commitment after Stage II.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis agreement is transformative for Bluejay,\u201d said the comany\u2019s CEO Bo Steensgaard. \u201cWe are delighted to have a partner at the pinnacle of technical innovation for new exploration methods, backed by some of the most successful investors in the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, BlueJay, which is worth $91 million, is a relatively small player compared to\u00a0<span>other companies with licenses in Greenland, such as Anglo American.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Since <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/polaris.brighterir.com\/public\/bluejay_mining\/news\/rns\/story\/x2gk0nw\">the announcement<\/a>, however, the company\u2019s stock has\u00a0<span>traded 26% higher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>HT \u2013 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/greenland-mining-bluejay\/billionaire-backed-mining-firm-to-seek-electric-vehicle-metals-in-greenland-idUSL1N2PG0DN?rpc=401&amp;\">Reuters<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thisismoney.co.uk\/money\/markets\/article-9874473\/Billionaires-UK-miner-hunt-metals-Greenland.html\">This is Money<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<div class=\"c-richText c-richText--large\">\n<div class=\"c-richText c-richText--large\">\n<p><i><span>Do EVs excite your electrons?
