Conservative shock jock, News<\/a>max anchor, voice-over actor and vocal anti-vaxxer Dick Farrel has died after contracting COVID-19. The Queens native was 65.<\/p>\n

The radio veteran was beloved by fans for his strong far-right opinions, including that Joe Biden\u2019s 2020 presidential election was fraudulent, the coronavirus vaccine is of questionable efficacy, and Dr. Anthony Fauci is a \u201cpower-trip<\/a>ping lying freak\u201d conspiring with \u201cpower trip lib loons,\u201d the Daily Mail<\/a> reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although Farrel called the vaccine \u201cbogus bull shid\u201d [sic] that\u2019s \u201cpromoted by people who lied 2u all along<\/a>\u201d as recently as July<\/a> on social media<\/a>, loved ones now say that, after being hospitalized for the novel virus, Farrel changed his stance on the vaccine.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCOVID Took One Of My Best Friends! RIP Dick Farrel. He is the reason I took the shot!\u201d Farrel\u2019s friend Amy Leigh Hair posted<\/a> on her Facebook page after his August 4<\/a> death. \u201cHe texted me and told me to \u2018Get it!\u2019 He told me that this virus is no joke and he said: \u2018I wish I had gotten it!\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n

Hair, a noted theatrical sign-language interpreter for Hands On Broadway, is now grateful to have the shot, she told\u00a0West Palm Beach NBC affiliate WPTV.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI was one of the people like him who didn\u2019t trust the vaccine. I trusted my immune system. I just became more afraid of getting COVID-19 than I was of any possible side effects of the vaccine. I\u2019m glad I got vaccinated,\u201d she said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

His life partner, Kit Farley, took to Facebook to grieve Farrel\u2019s loss and emphasize the seriousness of COVID-19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[He] fought like a tiger. Please don\u2019t put off getting attention for this illness. Yes, for some it has minimal effects, but others it is deadly. We will always love Dick Farrel, always app<\/a>reciate his spirit, and miss him greatly. He was known as the other Rush Limbaugh. With a heavy heart, I can only say this was so unexpected. He will be missed,\u201d Farley wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Many friends and Floridians recall Farrel for his deep voice, loyalty and passion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Farrel posted anti-vax content as recently as July, loved ones say he changed his stance and began urging friends to get the shot after contracting COVID.<\/figcaption>

His passing is a big loss,\u201d former CBS Radio West Palm Beach market general<\/a> manager Lee Strasser told the local outlet. \u201cHe was a kind-hearted person with a load of passion, and his memory will stand the test of time.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
