His aromatic admission came virtually unprompted as the outlet had asked about his experiences in NYC as a \u201cwater town\u201d \u2014 all tied to Gyllenhaal\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance in Prada\u2019s ad for their Luna Rossa Ocean fragrance.<\/p>\n<p>So, what emboldened celebs to share advice on bathing rituals \u2014 or lack thereof \u2014\u00a0with the washed masses? The annals of digital <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> point to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sophcw\/status\/1126647888635785216?s=20\">a May 9, 2019 viral origin tweet<\/a> by Aussie culture critic Sophie Weiner, who doesn\u2019t think it\u2019s \u201cgross\u201d to skip soap on most body parts. <\/p>\n<p>Weiner\u2019s proclamation proved contentious \u2014 with more than 10,500 retweets. Perhaps not coincidentally, Taylor Swift, 31, revealed on \u201cEllen\u201d just a week later that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/WDi7w2MVVc0\">she doesn\u2019t \u2014 gasp \u2014\u00a0wash her legs<\/a> in the shower.<\/p>\n<p>One day after Swift\u2019s confession, professional stink-raiser Yashar Ali, 41, sought to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yashar\/status\/1129130284690153475\">stir up controversy on Twitter<\/a> by launching a racially charged bathing discourse: \u201cWhat is going on with white people confessing on Twitter that they don\u2019t wash their legs, feet, etc. in the shower and just let the water flow do the work?\u201d <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">What is going on with white people confessing on Twitter that they don\u2019t wash their legs, feet, etc in the shower and just let the water flow do the work? <\/p>\n<p>Is this is why most POC got my whole towel thing and white people were confused\/thought I was crazy?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Yashar Ali \ud83d\udc18 (@yashar) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yashar\/status\/1129130284690153475?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 16, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>However, the dirty-or-not debate dribbled out \u2014 until Twitter user @letsassume relaunched it with a now-viral \u201cconfession\u201d on March 23, 2021: \u201cI only started washing my legs after the \u2018white people don\u2019t wash their legs\u2019 discourse,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/letsassume\/status\/1374520669526917123?s=20\">said the white woman from Baltimore<\/a>. The tweeter\u2019s admission garnered nearly 44,000 likes and 15,600 retweets. <\/p>\n<p>Since then, stars such as Gyllenhaal, Kristen Bell, 41, and Dax Shepard, 46, have proudly come forward to (un)shower praise on a status pioneered by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/movies\/brad-pitt-keeps-fresh-with-baby-wipes-reveals-costar\/\">\u201cbaby wipes\u201d legend Brad Pitt<\/a>, 57. The movement has become <em>so<\/em> strong, in fact, that some stars have been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2021\/08\/09\/jason-momoa-confirms-he-showers-im-aquaman\/\">forced to come forward in their own defense<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m not starting any trends \u2014 I shower, trust me,\u201d Jason Momoa, 42, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_Aujr_5RLlc\">said Monday<\/a>, adding \u201cI\u2019m Aquaman. I\u2019m in the f\u2013king water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Hawaiian Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson also felt the need to clarify that he bathes \u2014 and often: \u201cI\u2019m the opposite of a \u2018not washing themselves\u2019 celeb,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheRock\/status\/1423844150882021380?s=20\">Johnson, 49, said<\/a>, adding that he hits the showers up to three times per day.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-wrapper twitter\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nope, I\u2019m the opposite of a \u201cnot washing themselves\u201d celeb. <br \/>Shower (cold) when I roll outta bed to get my day rollin\u2019. <br \/>Shower (warm) after my workout before work.<br \/>Shower (hot) after I get home from work. <br \/>Face wash, body wash, exfoliate and I sing (off key) in the shower \ud83e\uddfc \ud83c\udfb6 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/iE6ZPhrthL\">https:\/\/t.co\/iE6ZPhrthL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheRock\/status\/1423844150882021380?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 7, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Well, turns out there\u00a0<em>are<\/em>\u00a0certain benefits to bathing less, according to Dr. Julie Russak, a private practice dermatologist in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>Dermies <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly \u201cdon\u2019t recommend a prolonged bath or daily showers,\u201d Russak told The Post. The two women ultimately decided at the time that, indeed, shaving does count as bathing. Then the singer was asked to clarify whether her legs are ignored when she\u2019s <em>not<\/em> shaving. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI kind of always shave my legs,\u201d the 11-time Grammy winner said. Surprised by Swift\u2019s diligent shaving regimen, Degeneres, 63, said, \u201cYou must be hairy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fans were incredulous \u2014 both that Swift shaves daily and that shaving cream is equivalent to a good sudsy lather. \u201cHow is shaving cream like soap tho, lol,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GetOffMyCloud_\/status\/1129026169158983680?s=20\">one doubtful viewer dissed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, Dr. Russak was less than scandalized, agreeing that shaving is usually enough to do the trick. But modern life \u2014 from clothing to air pollution \u2014 has interrupted our body\u2019s naturally evolved cleansing processes.
