{"id":319920,"date":"2021-08-10T01:39:40","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T22:39:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/man-has-li-murder-conviction-overturned-after-decades-behind-bars\/"},"modified":"2021-08-10T01:39:40","modified_gmt":"2021-08-09T22:39:40","slug":"man-has-li-murder-conviction-overturned-after-decades-behind-bars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/man-has-li-murder-conviction-overturned-after-decades-behind-bars\/","title":{"rendered":"#Man has LI murder conviction overturned after decades behind bars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Man has LI murder conviction overturned after decades behind bars<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A man convicted in the murder of an assistant coach at Hofstra University was set free by a judge Monday after spending decades behind bars.<\/p>\n<p>Nassau County Judge Patricia Harrington said  Christopher Ellis\u2019s conviction should be tossed after a jury convicted him in 1992 based on testimony from a single eyewitness yet \u201cno forensic or physical evidence.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Long Island prosecutors also had failed to hand over to the defense the notes from the lead homicide detective in the case, which involved the death of  25-year-old Harry Joseph Healy on Sept. 29, 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Harrington said Ellis could be retried in the slaying. Clark<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Ellis was 20 years old when cops said he killed Healy in a botched robbery outside an Arby\u2019s in Hampstead along with two others, David Liles and Gary Lawrence. <\/p>\n<p>According to court documents, Healy was eating with friends when the group was  approached by two men, one of whom pulled a gun and told them all to get up.
