Holy coming out, Batman!<\/p>\n

In the latest installment of \u201cBatman: Urban Legends,\u201d the DC comic book character Tim Drake \u2014 a k a the Caped Crusader\u2019s sidekick Robin \u2014 accepts an invitation to go on a date with a man named Bernard Dowd \u2014 thereby confirming Robin\u2019s LGBTQ status, TMZ has reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Robin\u2019s bisexual narrative unfolds<\/a> in what one fan calls a \u201clightbulb moment\u201d as he and Bernard find themselves in a streetside brawl. After the hero ultimately rescues Bernard, Robin later pays him a visit at his apartment. <\/p>\n

As Drake, the character can be seen psyching himself up<\/a> for greeting Bernard: \u201cIt\u2019s OK, Tim. You got this.\u201d<\/p>\n

At Bernard\u2019s door, Drake stammers, \u201cI\u2019m really glad you got home okay. I was relieved. And I\u2019ve been doing a lot of thinking, about that night. And I \u2014 I don\u2019t know what it meant to me. Not yet. But I\u2019d like to figure it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tim Drake finally coming out is so inspiring, DC never wanted a queer Robin but after years and years of campaigning from writers and fans it finally happ<\/a>ened<\/p>\n

Bernard responds, \u201cI was hoping you would. Tim Drake \u2026 do you want to go on a date with me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I think I want that,\u201d Robin answers \u2014 thus concluding the episode until the next, coming in December. <\/p>\n

Fans have long speculated that Robin may be queer, though he has dated women in previous iterations. Said one such reader<\/a>, \u201cCrazy thing, I saw Tim DRAKE coming out, years ago.. congrats to DC for making it a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Comics have been increasingly representative of the LGBTQ community as of late. In March, Marvel unveiled they\u2019re first gay Captain America character \u2014 a queer youth advocate named Aaron Fischer \u2014 to be included in the upcoming \u201cUnited States of Captain America\u201d comic book miniseries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life,\u201d creator Aaron Trujillo told Entertainment Weekly at the time of that announcement. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe stands for the oppressed, and the forgotten,\u201d Trujillo added. \u201cI hope his debut story resonates with readers, and helps inspire the next generation of heroes.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
