Redstone agreed with the board and the company is focusing on building out its business for the time being, these sources added.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoard members are speaking to Shari and saying don\u2019t panic,\u201d a source said referring Hollywood\u2019s consolidation frenzy.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been widely reported that Comcast has been eyeing buying Viacom\/CBS assets, which includes Nickelodeon and the Paramount Pictures movie studio, as industry consolidation heats up in an effort to compete for streaming subscribers.  <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/comcast-ceo-brian-roberts-and-viacomcbs-chairman-shari-redstone-met-to-discuss-streaming-partnership-11626743478?mod=business_lead_pos6\">According to the Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts met with Redstone and ViacomCBS CEO and president Bob Bakish in late June in New York to discuss a potential streaming pact for international markets. And in July, Roberts and Redstone were spotted at the Allen &amp; Co. annual media conference, sparking further speculation about a deal.<\/p>\n<p>Comcast\u2019s Roberts has downplayed the idea of a merger, both publicly and behind the scenes. Speaking on CNBC after Comcast\u2019s earnings report in late July he said: \u201cWe don\u2019t feel we need to do M&amp;A.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But sources say that this may be because Roberts knows that a deal between Comcast and ViacomCBS might be easier to get past regulators if Redstone\u2019s media company could first sell CBS. <\/p>\n<p>Federal Communications Commission rules prohibit broadcasters from owning two of the major four networks, in this case NBC and CBS. <\/p>\n<p>One potential buyer of CBS is the media entity that will emerge next year from AT&amp;T\u2019s planned sale of its WarnerMedia unit, behind HBO, Warner Bros. and CNN, and Discovery, which operates TLC, HGTV and Animal Planet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" alt=\" General views of the Paramount+ billboard campaign along the Sunset Strip promoting the launch of the new streaming service\" class=\"wp-image-19032574 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/viacom-seeking-suitors-805.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=300 300w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/viacom-seeking-suitors-805.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=640 640w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/viacom-seeking-suitors-805.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1280 1280w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/viacom-seeking-suitors-805.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/viacom-seeking-suitors-805.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=2000 2000w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>ViacomCBS\u2019 streaming service Paramount+ could bolster interest in an acquisition by suitors in the space. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">GC Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But that new entity, to be run by Discovery CEO David Zaslav,\u00a0cannot even think about any new deals until its own $43 billion merger is completed. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShari is hearing a lot of people could be interested in combining with ViacomCBS but not now,\u201d a source said.\u00a0That includes Zaslav, according to a person familiar with the media boss\u2019s thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Other people close to Redstone, however, insist that she\u2019s not interested in selling CBS to anyone and that the most logical suitors at the moment are private equity firms.<\/p>\n<p>Another source suggested that Redstone could also find a suitor in the tech world where companies like Amazon and Apple are scrapping for TV shows and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> to fill their streaming services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the hope is big tech comes in the picture,\u201d the source said. \u201cShe can benefit from waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amazon, which recently agreed to buy MGM, the movie studio behind the James Bond franchise, for $8.45 billion, may also be on the hunt for more film and TV shows once it closes that deal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sources close to Redstone also note another factor that may be drawing the media mogul to the sidelines\u2014 Bob Bakish, who she tapped to run ViacomCBS when the two formerly separate entities merged in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Bakish has only been running the business since December 2019 and is not interested in being replaced so soon, sources said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think Shari is ready to force Bob into doing a deal,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p>Although he is close to Redstone, Backish was not at the Allen &amp;
