KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2014 Zack Britton said he agrees with the assessment of many Yankees fans regarding his performance this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally just pitching like s\u2013t,\u2019\u2019 Britton told The Post on Tuesday. \u201cI\u2019m beyond frustrated at this point. I\u2019m not getting my body to do what I want it to, like last year and the years before that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trend continued in Monday\u2019s win over the Royals, when Britton couldn\u2019t protect a one-run lead in the ninth in a game<\/a> the Yankees won in 11 innings.<\/p>\n

With Aroldis Chapman on the injured list due to left elbow inflammation, Britton issued a two-out walk to Whit Merrifield, which was followed by a stolen base and a single by Nickey Perez that tied the score.<\/p>\n

The left-hander was coming off three straight scoreless outings, but has given up at least a run in eight of his 16 app<\/a>earances this season, dealing with command issues that might be related to the elbow surgery he underwent in spring training.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of reasons,\u2019\u2019 Britton said of his struggles. \u201cMissing spring training was huge.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed to his last subpar season, which came after he had Achilles surgery during the offseason.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had COVID, then elbow surgery,\u2019\u2019 Britton said. \u201cMissing reps in spring leads to an uphill battle. I\u2019m trying to help the team in high leverage [situations]. That\u2019s my job.\u201d<\/p>\n

The results have led Britton to second-guess his decision to get bone chips removed from his elbow during the spring.<\/p>\n
