Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul \u2014 who will soon take over for disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo \u2014 on Wednesday distanced herself from the outgoing chief executive, pledging not to foster a \u201ctoxic\u201d environment like the state attorney general<\/a> probe found he did. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s very clear that the governor and I have not been close \u2014 physically or otherwise \u2014 in terms of much time,\u201d Hochul said during a press conference in Albany, where she made her first public app<\/a>earance since Cuomo announced Tuesday that he will resign within two weeks. <\/p>\n

Hochul insisted that in recent months she\u2019s been \u201ctravel<\/a>ing the state\u201d and doesn\u2019t \u201cspend much time\u201d in Cuomo\u2019s \u201cpresence or in the presence of many in the state Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hochul declared, \u201cAt the end of my term, whenever it ends, no one will ever describe my administration as a toxic work environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the substantiation of 11 sexual harassment allegations, Attorney General Letitia James\u2019 probe described Cuomo\u2019s treatment of staff as \u201ctoxic\u201d and \u201cbullying.\u201d <\/p>\n

After Cuomo\u2019s departure from the governor\u2019s mansion, Hochul will become the first woman governor of New York State.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
