Between the retirements, injuries, drama off the field and the ongoing competition to become the new quarterback, training camp has been anything but boring for the Saints.<\/p>\n

New Orleans suffered another blow on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Wide receiver\/running back Ty Montgomery had to be carted off the field<\/a> for an unknown reason during drills 30 minutes into practice.<\/p>\n

The Saints\u2019 receiving corps has already seen Tre\u2019Quan Smith suffer an unknown injury<\/a> while Deonte Harris may face a possible suspension over a DUI arrest<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Smith, who has not participated in practice since Aug. 3, returned to camp Wednesday in street clothes to observe his teammates. Head coach Sean Payton said the receiver won\u2019t miss much time, but did not specify a return date.<\/p>\n

The offense has further been tested with drama from one of its stars. <\/p>\n

Michael Thomas delayed having ankle surgery until June and will likely miss at least a few weeks of the season. Thomas seemingly accused the franchise of trying to \u201cdamage [his] reputation,\u201d by only portraying one side of his injury narrative. Thomas did not disclose any additional details on what his \u201cside of the story\u201d looked like. <\/p>\n

The All-Pro ignored phone calls<\/a> from the team during the offseason as they tried to check on his injury status in the offseason, according to NOLA.com. <\/p>\n

Injuries and other issues have further hampered New Orleans outside the receiving spot. Kicker Wil Lutz had his camp cut short and will reportedly miss upwards of three months<\/a> with a groin injury. <\/p>\n

In addition to that, defensive tackle David Onyemata faces a six-game suspension<\/a> without pay for violating the NFL\u2019s performance-enhancing drug policy. He claims he was unaware that he ingested anything that broke the league\u2019s rules. <\/p>\n

If that weren\u2019t enough, cornerback Patrick Robinson announced his retirement<\/a> after 11 seasons with the Saints. This puts the secondary situation further in peril as they figure out who their second starting cornerback will be alongside Marshon Lattimore. <\/p>\n

They did sign Prince Amukamara, and reportedly<\/a> the Saints have their eyes potentially trading for the Jaguars\u2019 C.J. Henderson. <\/p>\n

As for the quarterback situation to replace legend Drew Brees, neither Tayson Hill nor Jameis Winston have stood out as a front-runner in training camp. <\/p>\n

As of Tuesday<\/a>, Hill was 68-for-103 with two touchdowns and three interceptions in camp. In full-team drills, he\u2019s had nine completions on 15 attempts. Winston\u2019s stats at training have been marginally better \u2014 83-for-118 with three touchdowns and three interceptions. <\/p>\n

As the Saints\u2019 first game<\/a> on Sept. 12 against Green Bay rapidly app<\/a>roaches, things need to come together for the team quickly before things deteriorate more.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
