Looks like the popularity of the new hosts of \u201cJeopardy!\u201d is, in fact, in jeopardy<\/em>.<\/p>\n

News<\/a> broke Wednesday that after a long and exhaustive search for the new host of the iconic game<\/a> show, its executive producer, Mike Richards, and actress Mayim Bialik both scored the coveted job, with Richards in the daily hosting seat and Bialik helming spinoff iterations. But fans aren\u2019t happ<\/a>y with the two taking over for the late Alex Trebek.<\/p>\n

The star of \u201cThe Big Bang Theory,\u201d 45, tweeted out a response to the news<\/a>: \u201cIT\u2019S TRUE!!! Been waiting a long time to tell you all. Really really honored and astounded and excited for this \u2014 it\u2019s beyond anything I ever imagined could happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Viewers were hoping that the new host would be fan favorite LeVar Burton \u2014 who guest-hosted the quiz show on July 26. <\/p>\n

Meghan McCain disappointedly tweeted<\/a>, \u201cWhy couldn\u2019t they just give it to @levarburton like literally everyone on the planet wanted?\u201d<\/p>\n

Oscar-winning filmmaker Matthew A. Cherry interjected<\/a>, \u201cRIP Jeopardy. Was fun while it lasted.\u201d Another fan<\/a>, New York Times reporter Astead Herndon, wrote, \u201cAfter all that \u2026.. the jeopardy exec producer just chose \u2026\u2026.. himself lmaoooo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSelma\u201d director Ava DuVernay posted<\/a> a \u201cSchitt\u2019s Creek\u201d meme and wrote, \u201cMe trying to create a show right in this moment for @levarburton to host and make an international hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other fans chimed in with their thoughts on the new hosts. \u201cI\u2019m glad to see Mayim Bialik, but definitely was on team LeVar Burton. The two of them would\u2019ve been great together,\u201d wrote<\/a> one user. <\/p>\n

Journalist Jamal Jordan (known in the Twitter<\/a>sphere as Lil Uzi Hurt) added<\/a>, \u201cJEOPARDY CHOSE *TWO* HOSTS AND NEITHER IS NAMED LEVAR BURTON.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some fans were gunning for Ken Jennings, who holds the record for most consecutive wins on the show (74) and won $4.4 million over 15 years of being a contestant.<\/p>\n

\u201cLevar Burton is a GOAT, but terrible fit for Jeopardy. That being said, only Ken Jennings was the right fit for the main host position, not Mayim Bialik or Mike Richards,\u201d wrote<\/a> a critic. <\/p>\n

Whined <\/a>another from the other side of the argument: \u201cWhy the f\u2013k would they not give the job to LeVar Burton? He wanted it. The audience wanted it. Instead we get random producer and Blossom,\u201d referring to Bialik\u2019s titular character from the \u201990s teen sitcom<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another fan reiterated<\/a>, \u201cI was genuinely excited when i thought that [Burton] was going to be the new host, and now i am genuinely disappointed (not that i can even watch the show outside the US, but i just think @levarburton should host\/star in everything).\u201d<\/p>\n

Richards, who was the rumored front-runner, gave tribute to Trebek \u2014 who died at age 80<\/a>\u00a0in November after a\u00a0battle with pancreatic cancer<\/a> \u2014 in the announcement that he would ascend to the podium, which Trebek had manned since 1984.<\/p>\n
