Country queen and \u201c9 to 5\u201d singer Dolly Parton has been working overtime again \u2014 at her upcoming book \u201cRun, Rose, Run<\/a>,\u201d cowritten with author James Patterson.<\/p>\n

The book marks the 75-year-old musician\u2019s first novel \u2014 having already made her name as a 10-time Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, actress, television and film producer, theme<\/a> park tycoon and humanitarian.<\/p>\n

Like so many of Parton\u2019s iconic songs, the story of \u201cRun, Rose, Run\u201d is about breaking free of convention and trauma. It follows Rose, a young woman who moves to Nashville to pursue her dream of making music, drawing on inspiration of her own past trauma. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe source of her heart-wrenching songs is a brutal secret she has done everything to hide,\u201d reads the plot from a press release sent to People<\/a>. \u201cBut the past she has fled is reaching out to control her future \u2014 even if it means destroying everything she has worked for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel \u2018Run, Rose, Run\u2019 with the great James Patterson,\u201d Parton said in a statement. Representatives for Parton declined further comment to The Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an honor \u2014 and a hell of a lot of fun \u2014 to work with the inimitable Dolly Parton, whom I\u2019ve long admired for her music, her storytelling, and her enormous generosity,\u201d said Patterson, 74, in his own statement.<\/p>\n

Naturally, alongside the book, an eponymous album \u2014 featuring 12 songs \u201cbased on the characters and situations in the book\u201d \u2014 will be released by Parton\u2019s Butterfly Records. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe mind-blowing thing about this project is that reading the novel is enhanced by listening to the album and vice versa,\u201d added Patterson, the prolific author and creator of the \u201cAlex Cross\u201d series<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a really unique experience that I know readers (and listeners) will love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRun, Rose, Run<\/a>\u201d (Little Brown) is available for pre-order now<\/a> ahead of its March 7, 2022, release date. <\/p>\n
