“#Archer Aviation seeks $1B in damages from Larry Page’s Wisk Aero<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Flying taxi developer Archer Aviation is seeking $1 billion in damages from\u00a0Wisk\u00a0Aero, a rival backed by Boeing and Google co-founder Larry Page\u2019s Kitty Hawk Corp., according to a court filing, raising the stakes in a heated legal dispute.<\/p>\n

The two have been embroiled in litigation since earlier this year when\u00a0Wisk\u00a0accused Archer, whose investors include United Airlines, of stealing trade secrets involving electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.<\/p>\n

Archer countersued and said in a filing late Tuesday that it intends to \u201chold\u00a0Wisk\u00a0accountable for its false and malicious extra-judicial smear campaign that has caused substantial damage to Archer, likely to exceed $1 billion.\u201d<\/p>\n

A\u00a0Wisk\u00a0spokesperson said: \u201cArcher\u2019s counterclaim is ludicrous and its troubles are purely self-inflicted.\u201d<\/p>\n

Archer plans to commercially launch its first electric flying taxi \u201cMaker\u201d in 2024, one of an increasing number of investors and aviation companies piling into the competitive but yet-to-be-app<\/a>roved urban air mobility space.<\/p>\n

\u201cFiling a lawsuit does not give\u00a0Wisk\u00a0a free pass to make false and damaging statements outside of the judicial process, and yet that is exactly what\u00a0Wisk\u00a0has been doing,\u201d an Archer spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

He said Archer would continue to seek damages even if\u00a0Wisk\u00a0drops its claims.<\/p>\n

Wisk, however, plans to pursue its case, its spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Wisk\u2019s initial lawsuit was filed in April, two months after Archer announced plans to go public through a merger with special purpose acquisition company Atlas Crest Investment Corp, led by investment banker Ken Moelis.<\/p>\n

Last month, Archer and sponsor Atlas slashed the pro forma enterprise value of the startup by $1 billion to $1.7 billion in a revised deal between the two companies.<\/p>\n

Its other investors include Stellantis and Mubadala Capital.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
