In lieu of a proper title, we\u2019re left to call it\u00a0<em>The Matrix 4<\/em> for now. The film is scheduled for a <strong>December 22, 2021<\/strong> release and that\u2019s only four months away.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post --><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-features\/yahya-abdul-mateen-ii-candyman-matrix-4-1234995205\/\">THR<\/a> has an in-depth cover story about Abdul-Mateen II, who stars in this month\u2019s <em>Candyman<\/em>\u00a0sequel\/reboot and who will be reprising his role (with more to do) as Black Manta next year in <em>Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom<\/em>. He won a Primetime Emmy Award for his 2019 performance in HBO\u2019s <em>Watchmen<\/em>. In <em>The Matrix 4<\/em>, it\u2019s been rumored that he\u2019s playing a younger version of Morpheus, the character played by <strong>Laurence Fishburne<\/strong> in the original <em>Matrix<\/em> trilogy.<\/p>\n<p>We have no confirmation on that yet but, if it\u2019s not true, the absence of Fishburne is curious, although maybe no more or less so than co-director <strong>Lilly Wachowski<\/strong> deciding to sit out this sequel, too.\u00a0Whatever the case, being on the set of <em>The Matrix 4<\/em> left\u00a0Abdul-Mateen II starstruck. Here\u2019s what he said about working with <strong>Keanu Reeves<\/strong> and director <strong>Lana Wachowski<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI remember Keanu and his first line. I looked up, and there was Keanu, and I said, \u2018Oh shit, I\u2019m really in The Matrix.\u2019 It was just Keanu in that voice. And the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> that Lana incorporated and the filmmaking, camera rigs that I\u2019ve never seen before. It\u2019s so ambitious. It was really interesting to be making The Matrix 4 at a time when the world was so warped and when reality was so distorted. We can only imagine what kind of tricks Wachowski has cooked up for this sequel.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->THR\u2019s full profile of Abdul-Mateen II contains some other interesting tidbits about him and his life. Like James Earl Jones, an actor known for his iconic voice,\u00a0Abdul-Mateen II overcame a stutter; and like many of us out here in TV land, he\u2019s a fan of <em>The Office.<\/em> Is it just me or does hearing that make anyone else\u2019s brain enter a bullet time state?<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what he had to say about the beloved NBC sitcom and its characters, including Michael (Steve Carell), Dwight (Rainn Wilson), and even the oddball Creed (Creed Bratton):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMichael Scott just has a big heart. As soon as he gets on your last nerve, he just redeems himself. I don\u2019t know how, but he\u2019s also excellent at his job. They have the highest-performing branch [of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company]. He always comes through in the clutch. Dwight is just classic. I like Creed, too. You can\u2019t sleep on Creed.
