She\u2019s often confused for a certain member of New Edition, but \u201cEvery Little Step\u201d Bobbi Brown takes<\/a>, she proves she\u2019s a singular talent who shouldn\u2019t be mistaken for anyone. <\/p>\n

Of course, the makeup maven and my \u201cRenaissance Man\u201d guest takes this association in stride and with a good sense of humor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to meet Bobby Brown<\/a> years ago when I was hired to do Whitney [Houston\u2019s] makeup,\u201d she told me. \u201cHe just said to me, \u2018Nice name.\u2019 And I said, \u2018Yeah, you too.\u2019 And that was the only connection with him. That was a long time ago.\u201d <\/p>\n

But one time in Chicago, her shared name almost made her miss an app<\/a>earance on \u201cOprah.\u201d<\/a> She was waiting outside of the Four Seasons Hotel for the car to pick her up. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I kept calling. \u2018They\u2019re not here. They\u2019re not here.\u2019 And I would go over to the limousines and they look at me and, like, shoo me away,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd finally I called someone back in my office and they said, \u2018[The driver is] there.\u2019 Some guy was looking for the other Bobby Brown.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funnily enough, her father is named James Brown, so they have some serious musical names in the family. Which led me to ask: How did this 5-foot-0 Chicago native discover the passion that would make her a household name?<\/p>\n
