Nightbirde might have been forced out of the competition \u2014 but she still won the night.<\/p>\n

Season 16 of \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d announced its first live results Wednesday with harmony trio 1aChord, comedia<\/a>ns Gina Brillon and Kabir Singh, magician Dustin Tavella, and other fan favorites moving on to the next round. <\/p>\n

However, host Terry Crews observed that there was one semifinalist missing from the lineup: Singer and cancer fighter Jane Marczewski \u2014 a k a Nightbirde. The 30-year-old Ohio native had earned a Golden Buzzer last month after a knockout audition<\/a> with her original song \u201cIt\u2019s OK,\u201d which told the story of her battle with brain, liver and spine cancer.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the \u201cAGT\u201d favorite was forced to drop out of the competition last week after her health took \u201ca turn for the worse.\u201d <\/p>\n

But in a touching twist, Marczewski made a surprise remote appearance Wednesday<\/a> to update the crowd on her departure.<\/p>\n

During the moving Zoom call, visibly choked-up judge Simon Cowell, 61, told Marczewski she made the right decision to focus on\u00a0\u201cyour well-being, your health and your recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot say thank you enough for the opportunity to have a moment to share my story, and\u00a0we are witnessing such a beautiful picture of the human spirit,\u201d Marczewski gushed in response. \u201cI think it\u2019s restored my faith in humanity a lot to see people come together just over the fact that we all hurt, we all suffer, and we all have the potential to overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

The normally curmudgeonly Cowell said, \u201cI know the last time we spoke, you actually said you feel like you let people down [by leaving the competition]. Well, I just want to say on behalf of all of us, you haven\u2019t let anyone down. Even though you haven\u2019t competed, you have already won.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cowell continued, \u201cYour clip had such an impact on so many people \u2014 your courage and who you are. On behalf of all of us here, we send our love, our prayers, and we can\u2019t wait to see you soon. Thank you so much for auditioning on the show and singing such a beautiful song.\u201d<\/p>\n
