A company <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nvidia.com\/blog\/2021\/08\/11\/omniverse-making-of-gtc\/\">blog post<\/a> convinced many observers that the entire presentation was computer-generated.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia has now updated the blog post to clarify that the CGI Huang spoke for only 14 seconds of the 108-minute keynote.<\/p>\n<p>The difference between the fake and real parts is pretty clear to my eyes. You can judge it for yourself by watching the video below. The CG footage starts at<span>\u00a01:02:41<\/span>. <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"GTC Spring 2021 Keynote with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eAn_oiZwUXA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The keynote provided a showcase for Omniverse, a platform used to create and simulate <span>virtual 3D worlds.<\/span>\u00a0Nvidia used the system to generate Huang\u2019s digital twin.<\/p>\n<p>The company first took thousands of photos of Huang in a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of poses. These were\u00a0used to create a base for his 3D model.<\/p>\n<p>The team then generated facial gestures for the model that matched Huang\u2019s speech. To enhance the realism, they m<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes transcripts of Huang\u2019s keynotes while physically mimicking his performances.\u00a0The footage was used to train an AI model to replicate\u00a0Huang\u2019s movements.<\/p>\n<p>The performance was Jensen\u2019s parade, but it sounds like a lot of work for something that still doesn\u2019t look photorealistic to me.<\/p>\n<p>The CGI doppelganger was also shown from a distance that concealed potential defects in its features and gestures.<\/p>\n<p>Nvidia\u2019s AI is undoubtedly impressive, but it doesn\u2019t look ready to replace the real Huang with a virtual replica.<\/p>\n<p><em>HT
