“#Tony Bennett Retires From Performing<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Last week, legendary singer Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performed two sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Now, in a new interview with Variety<\/em><\/a>, Bennett\u2019s son and manager Danny has revealed that those concerts marked Bennett\u2019s final live performances. \u201cThere won\u2019t be any additional concerts,\u201d Danny Bennett told Variety<\/em>. \u201cThis was a hard decision for us to make, as he is a capable performer. This is, however, doctors\u2019 orders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Bennett\u2019s family revealed in an interview with AARP The Magazine<\/em><\/a> that the singer, who is 95, was diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s disease in 2016. A press release for his Radio City performances had cited the shows as Bennett\u2019s \u201clast NYC performances of his career.\u201d Earlier today (August 12), Variety<\/em><\/a> reported that Bennett had canceled his upcoming fall 2021 tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis continued health is the most important part of this,\u201d Danny Bennett added in his statement to Variety<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s not the singing aspect but, rather, the travel<\/a>ing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lady Gaga and Bennett recently revealed the details of their new album of Cole Porter covers, Love for Sale<\/em>, which arrives October 1 via Columbia<\/a> and Interscope<\/a>. It follows their 2014 collaboration Cheek to Cheek<\/em>, which earned them the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Last week they released a visual for their version of \u201cI Get a Kick Out of You.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
