But this isn\u2019t h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening quickly enough for VW\u2019s CEO, Herbert Diess.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Plenty_of_shade_from_VW_CEO\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Plenty of shade from VW CEO<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This week Herbert Diess, Volkswagen Group CEO,\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/europe.autonews.com\/automakers\/vw-ceo-blasts-ev-charging-ventures-station-after-italy-trip\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">complained on LinkedIn<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0(in a now-deleted post) about difficulties finding a working plug along the Brenner Pass that links Austria to Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He wrote:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cSo I kept driving to Trento,\u201d before describing the Ionity charging point he found in the north Italian city. \u201cNo bathroom, no coffee, an out-of-service\/broken charging point, a sad state of affairs. Also this week, Conservative UK MP Michael Fabricant said\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lichfieldlive.co.uk\/2021\/08\/12\/lichfield-mp-says-range-anxiety-means-he-wouldnt-consider-driving-an-electric-car\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he wouldn\u2019t drive an electric car<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0citing charging times and range anxiety. He notes that battery tech is evolving and said\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cAs for me, I\u2019m hanging on to my twin-turbo petrol-driven car until those battery issues have all been sorted.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">It\u2019s hardly comforting thoughts from a member of a government pledging to cut carbon emissions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_are_people_suspicious_of_EVs\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Why are people suspicious of EVs?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Earlier this year, research in the UK EV charger retailer\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/myenergi.com\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">myengeri<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0found that 36% of Brits surveyed wouldn\u2019t consider purchasing an EV due to a perceived lack of charging points. Worse, 10% even admitted to being \u2018scared\u2019 of charging. Are they scared of being electrocuted? Clearly, there\u2019s a need for better public education.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jordan Brompton, co-founder, and CMO of myenergi\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.electricaltimes.co.uk\/misconceptions-holding-back-electrification-finds-new-research\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">told<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Electrical times:\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0\u201cUnfortunately, there is still a misconception that EVs have a short-range and public charging points are few and far between. This couldn\u2019t be further from the truth. The average range of a modern EV is 211 miles, and there are now more publicly accessible charging points than petrol stations! With most drivers commuting far less than their full EV range every day, topping up charge at home or at work is a simple task.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Its_hardly_an_EV_desert\"><\/span>It\u2019s hardly an EV desert<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">UK is home to more EV charging points<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0than petrol stations (<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">23,000<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, according to the good folks at Zap-Map). Further, the need for charging is not as great as a lot of people think. Most people drive short distances, such as to and from work or to the store, not for hundreds of miles at a time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The reality is that EV charging stations are growing exponentially, especially across Europe. The Netherlands began installing public EV charging stations in 2012.\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Currently, there are more than 75,000 public charging stations,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and over 190,000 Dutch people charging their cars home. Germany has over\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/932998\/number-of-electric-vehicle-charging-stations-germany\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">public 44,000 charging stations<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europcar.com\/editorial\/en\/travel-tips\/on-charge-where-to-charge-your-electric-rental-car-in-france-497\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">France over 30,000<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.retailcustomerexperience.com\/blogs\/how-ev-plug-ins-will-change-the-c-store-experience\/\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Retailers are offering EV charging stations<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, a great way to bring customers back to bricks-and-mortar shopping.\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.travelmole.com\/news_feature.php?news_id=2047886\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Radisson Hotels plans to offer EV charging to their customers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at all their European hotels by 2025. \u200b\u200bLondon recently launched a first-of-its-kind\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">EV charging system that sits flush within the pavement<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_EV_charging_in_the_US_is_another_story\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The EV charging in the US is another story<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mobilyze.ai recently published a report about\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobilyze.ai\/research-report-download\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">access to EV charging in the US<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. It found that just under 10% of those living in the top 50 US cities live within a five-minute walk from a public EV charger, with the highest number of chargers, unsurprisingly, in San Francisco. However, the research also estimates that the US has 30,000\u201390,000 fewer chargers than it should, given the number of EVs on the roads. The US currently has 104,000 public chargers. No one wants to sit in their car\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">waiting for a free charger<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, blocking the bay.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fortunately, Biden\u2019s push for EVs to be 50% of vehicle sales by 2030 includes a commitment in the $1 trillion infrastructure bill (currently awaiting passage by the House of Reps) dedicating $7.5 billion to expand the US\u2019s EV charger network to 500,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mobilyze.ai noted the need for incorporating EV charges into existing public structures like parking lots and retail malls, rather than simply creating stand-alone charging stations.
