This provocative series is an epic chronicle of life, loss and survival in what Lee calls \u201cthe greatest city on this God\u2019s earth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><em>NYC EPICENTERS 9\/11 -&gt; 2021\u00bd\u00a0<\/em>\u201cfeatures first-hand accounts from residents of all walks of life, including first responders, politicians and journalists.\u201d Lee conducted over 200 interviews with such well-known figures as Jon Stewart, Rosie Perez, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Chuck Schumer, Bill De Blasio, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ron Kim, Mondaire Jones, Stacey Plaskett, Ritchie Torres, and Muriel Bowser, as well as\u00a0NYFD members, machine operators from Ground Zero, engineers and architects, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> anchors and reporters, and\u00a0medical professionals\u00a0like Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Ian Lipkin, and Dr. Fritz Francois.<\/p>\n<p>One person you won\u2019t be hearing from is New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, who <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2021\/08\/10\/nyregion\/cuomo-resigns\">just resigned<\/a> in disgrace this week amid a sexual harassment scandal.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-695558 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/BlacKkKlansman-700x392.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/BlacKkKlansman.jpg 700w, https:\/\/d13ezvd6yrslxm.cloudfront.net\/wp\/wp-content\/images\/BlacKkKlansman-360x202.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Documentarians_Sensibility\"><\/span>A Documentarian\u2019s Sensibility<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Lee scored his biggest box office hit in 2006 with <em>Inside Man<\/em>, but he struggled to secure financing for some of his films after that, even turning to crowd-funding on Kickstarter at one point. In 2018, he made a comeback with\u00a0<i>BlacKkKlansman, <\/i>which\u00a0won him his first Oscar \u2014 for Best Adapted Screenplay \u2014 and\u00a0earned him his first Best Director nomination. Like many great directors, he still hasn\u2019t won and was snubbed for even a nomination before that.<br \/>\n<!-- SlashFilm_300x250_In_Post_2 -->The movie\u2019s ending famously juxtaposed\u00a0a flaming cross and a circle of Ku Klux Klan members with footage of a torch-wielding mob at the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Virginia. Lee followed this up with footage of the real David Duke, the KKK Grand Wizard played by Topher Grace in the film, speaking at the rally. This bled into\u00a0footage of the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charlottesville_car_attack\">Charlottesville car attack<\/a>, as the movie\u00a0drew a direct line between America\u2019s past and the present.<\/p>\n<p>Many of Lee\u2019s films have interwoven real archival footage with dramatizations, displaying a documentarian\u2019s sensibility while taking artistic license with historical events. He\u2019s also directed plenty of documentaries and has an established working relationship with HBO on some of them, such as\u00a0<em>When the Levees Broke<\/em>.
