\n Scott Brooks said what so many are thinking.<\/p>\n

Wearing a facemask as he spoke with reporters Tuesday night, the Wizards coach said he can\u2019t comprehend why anyone \u2014 like, say, Dwight Howard \u2014 would opt against wearing a simple piece of protective equipment when it is scientifically proven to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and save lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout getting too political, it\u2019s somewhat embarrassing that people are fighting over a mask. If it helps your neighbor out, to me it\u2019s obvious; you do it,\u201d Brooks said. \u201cWe\u2019re all in this together. Obviously, the virus is not red or blue. It\u2019s out to get everybody and we have to keep everybody as safe as possible. It makes no sense that we\u2019re arguing, we\u2019re fighting over masks. It\u2019s actually embarrassing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a no-brainer for me. Do I like wearing it? No. Sometimes it\u2019s not the easiest thing to communicate or breathe, but it\u2019s the best thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the NBA has had tremendous success in controlling the virus within its bubble in Florida\u2019s Disney World \u2014 the league reported that the most recent round of tests found no positive cases among players \u2014 the threat level changes every day, due to staff permitted to leave the property.<\/p>\n

Howard was anonymously reported by another player for not wearing a mask, with the Lakers center saying he did not \u201csee a risk of us getting (the virus) during the time period we\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know that the coronavirus be flying through the air looking for people,\u201d Howard said during an Instagram Live session.<\/p>\n

Howard later went against science<\/a> with his vaccine stance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe in vaccines myself,\u201d Howard said. \u201cWill vaccines work for some people? They may or they may not. But for me, I don\u2019t believe in them and that is my opinion and I\u2019m going to stick with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

By Tuesday, Howard faced enough backlash that he boasted that he had numerous facemasks in his hotel room, which he claims to wear, when necessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have followed all these rules and I am in my room right now,\u201d Howard said. \u201cSo when these people are saying that I\u2019m doing stuff and I\u2019m saying stuff on Live, we\u2019re not gonna let it slide. \u2026 I wear my mask when I\u2019m supposed to. I do exactly what I\u2019m supposed to when I have to.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you not inside the bubble and you go out there in public, yes protect yourself. Put a mask on, do what you gotta do.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
