It\u2019s completely distributed. There\u2019s no centralized authority. It can\u2019t be cracked. It can\u2019t be stolen. It doesn\u2019t inflate. It can\u2019t be inflated. It isn\u2019t subject to any form of overt administrative control,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>While Peterson isn\u2019t known as a crypto proponent, he may know more about Bitcoin and blockchain <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> than he let on in the video. The psychologist started <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bigthink.com\/culture-religion\/jordan-peterson-2628187719?rebelltitem=2#rebelltitem2\" data-amp=\"https:\/\/bigthink-com.cdn.ampproject.org\/c\/s\/bigthink.com\/amp\/jordan-peterson-2628187719-2628187719\">accepting<\/a> BTC donations back in 2018 after he boycotted Patreon over free speech issues. <\/p>\n<p>Peterson has publicly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lYJLkiSfxgo\">discussed<\/a> the significance of blockchain tech on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jordanbpeterson\/status\/1079534451078713344\">multiple<\/a> occasions, and during an interview with Grant Blaisdell in January 2020, he tentatively stated that: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere\u2019s a whole bunch of problems that this new system solves, but you can be bloody certain that there\u2019s a whole bunch of problems it\u2019s going to introduce.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Peterson also questioned the guests on what they thought were the downsides of Bitcoin and referred to Elon Musk\u2019s environmental concerns surrounding the sustainability of mining practices behind the asset. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0Is being late into Bitcoin about perspective?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consensus among the guests was that the energy required to maintain the Bitcoin network was worth it because of its transformative effects on society in terms of decentralization, with Gigi suggesting that \u201csociety, in <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>, asks these questions about all kinds of things, \u2018Are cars worth it? Are smartphones worth it? Is the internet worth it?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peterson then boiled down the discussion by stating if Bitcoin\u2019s value propositions were found to be true, the result would be that: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhatever energy is expended in the production of Bitcoin and the maintenance of the system should be more than recouped by the increased efficiency of every system that uses Bitcoin as a transactional device.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAnd so there\u2019ll be a net energy gain not a net energy loss if you calculated it across the entire system.
