But having already spent two seasons in San Antonio has Quinndary Weatherspoon feeling right at home with Brooklyn.

The Nets and Spurs play each other in Sunday’s summer league game, and in many ways they’ve been a flip side of the same coin in terms of system, scheme and even terminology. And Weatherspoon has seen both sides of that coin.

“It helped me a lot, just because I’m coming from San Antonio. And a lot of the guys here in the front office, they came from San Antonio. So it’s almost like a second family. Just using the same terminology, just going about the business the same way,” Weatherspoon told The Post. “So I think just me coming from San Antonio and coming here, I think it helped me a lot.”

Since GM Sean Marks arrived in 2016 — bringing a host of former Spurs with him — the Nets have largely mirrored the San Antonio culture. The front office is littered with ex-Spurs, and even assistant Jacque Vaughn (who was largely responsible for installing their defense) came from San Antonio as well.

Quinndary Weatherspoon

NBAE via Getty Images

“Anytime you get anyone with NBA experience, there’s a head up on some of the rookies coming from draft workouts. And then two years in that program, overall, wherever he goes, he’s probably more advanced,” coach Jordan Ott told The Post. “Then the similar terminology, way things work, culture as San Antonio, I’m sure allowed him to be a little more comfortable earlier. But he stood out from Day 1.”

Weatherspoon had been a 2019 second-round pick by San Antonio, spending two years on a two-way deal. He played 31 games with the Spurs, and 35 more with their G-League affiliate in Austin, averaging 14.8 points and 5.1 assists.

Now in summer league with the Nets, Weatherspoon could well earn another two-way deal with Brooklyn. One Eastern Conference scout that spoke with The Post was left impressed with the 6-foot-3 guard’s physicality and savvy play.

“Yeah, Q’s great,” Ott said. “Great to have in our summer league team. Again, another downhill driver, aggressive. Just his physicality, you could see his NBA size. His NBA experience comes out at times, offensively and defensively.

“We’ve asked him at times to pick up full court. He’s accepted that, bringing some of the defensive mentality that we were hoping to find in Summer League. He’s definitely shown more than capable to guard on the basketball at this level.”

Weatherspoon comes into Sunday’s game against his old team leading his new one in assists, second in scoring (12.3 points) and third in steals. And though former Mississippi State teammate Reggie Perry just had his qualifying offer rescinded, Weatherspoon has impressed and is looking to nail down a spot with the Nets.

Throughout his stay in Las Vegas, Weatherspoon has shown a penchant for getting to the rim, evidenced by an impressive driving dunk vs. Memphis. Now the biggest task is learning to trust his jumper and space the floor.

“Yes sir, just being able to take that open shot with confidence. The drive’s not always there. And just being able to read close-outs better,” Weatherspoon said.

“Just coming out, [the coaches] just liked how hard I play, my intensity on defense. But I think I’m turning down a lot of open shots that I need to prove that I can make. It’s just with me playing more confidence in just believing in my shot that I put a lot of work in this summer.”

If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
