McCaul says Afghanistan withdrawal has been a disaster<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>The top Republican on the House Foreign Relations Committee on Sunday said President Biden will have \u201cblood on his hands\u201d over the withdrawal of the US military from Afghanistan \u2014 as Taliban fighters entered Kabul and American troops raced to evacuate staffers from the US Embassy.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNNPolitics\/status\/1426907556644073478\">Rep. Michael McCaul <\/a>(R-Texas) said the US troop pullout has been \u201can unmitigated disaster of epic proportions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is going to be a stain on this president and his presidency. And I think he\u2019s going to have blood on his hands from what they did,\u201d McCaul said on CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union,\u201d referring to the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey totally blew this one, they completely underestimated the strength of the Taliban,\u201d he told host Jake T<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McCaul said members of the administration ignored warnings from the intelligence community about Afghanistan and instead \u201cpaint this rosy picture\u201d about peace talks between the Taliban and the Afghan government in Doha, Qatar, delivering a \u201crabbit out of the hat\u201d in the 11th hour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that didn\u2019t happen. Michael McCaul said.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Chris Kleponis\/Pool via CNP\/Splash<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>McCaul said the departure of the US military from Afghanistan will be \u201cworse\u201d than the US pullout from Saigon in Vietnam in 1975, disputing Biden\u2019s claims from early July that American personnel would not be lifted off the roof of the embassy.<\/p>\n<p>One of the Vietnam War\u2019s most famous photos captured a helicopter frantically airlifting people from the top of the US embassy in Saigon as the city completely fell to the enemy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they raise the black flag of the Taliban over our embassy, think about that visual,\u201d McCaul said, referring to Afghanistan\u2019s capital of Kabul.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CNNPolitics\/status\/1426896862263582722\">Secretary of State Antony Blinken<\/a> rejected comparisons between Kabul and Saigon and laid the blame for the Taliban\u2019s rapid advance at the feet of the Afghan\u00a0security forces, which received billions of dollars and extensive training and military equipment from the US over the course of the 20-year war there.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/afghanistan-107-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Taliban forces.\" class=\"wp-image-19138168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/afghanistan-107-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/afghanistan-107-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/afghanistan-107-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Rep. We went to Afghanistan 20 years ago with one mission. And that mission was to deal with the folks who attacked us on 9\/11,\u201d Blinken said on CNN. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we have succeeded in that mission,\u201d the Biden official insisted. \u201cThe objective that we set, bringing those who attacked us to justice, making sure that they couldn\u2019t attack us again from Afghanistan, we have succeeded in that mission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd, in fact, we succeeded a while ago. We made abundantly clear: If they did not live up to that piece of paper, to the words that they had put on the ground, we weren\u2019t going to allow them to just walk away from any deal that they struck. We should inflict cost and pain on them. We shouldn\u2019t be begging them to spare the lives of Americans.
