A DoorDash deliveryman who went viral last week for leaving a passive aggressive note for a \u201chabitual non-tipper\u201d now says the stunt \u201cnever happ<\/a>ened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAmy is real, she\u2019s a real habitual non-trip<\/a>per, but I did not leave the note at Amy\u2019s thing,\u201d TikTok user @frenchfrythug<\/a> posted on Saturday \u2014 four days after he shared a now-unavailable video claiming to have left the note along with the female customer\u2019s order.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you can\u2019t afford to tip then you should go pick it up yourself,\u201d the note said, according to Insider<\/a>. \u201cWho do you think you are to order food and have someone come and bring it to your door for FREE? FOR FREE?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI just drove my personal car to your house to deliver your food for fun? Naw not today\u2026 you can right your wrongs below,\u201d it continued, along with the deliveryman\u2019s Venmo account, \u201c@iforgottotip.\u201d<\/p>\n

A subsequent video showed @frenchfrythug supposedly distributing the money<\/a> he said he received from strangers on Venmo to fellow underpaid DoorDashers.<\/p>\n

The initial clip ignited a fury of debate over tipping, with commenters insisting they shouldn\u2019t have to pay an additional tip on top of the fees DoorDash already charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo if a person has no car and is hungry they suppose [sic[ to starve because they can\u2019t give a tip,\u201d one TikToker posted in the replies to one of @frenchfrythug\u2019s videos.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you think you are owed anything[?]\u201d another asked. \u201cWhen you took your job you understood it but nobody owes you anything and the fact that you expect it is even worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI tip because I want to,\u201d another said, \u201cnot because I have to.\u201d<\/p>\n

@Frenchfrythug said he was \u201cmoving on\u201d in his video revealing the truth about the note.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a troll. I was joking, the internet took it very seriously and that\u2019s okay,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you are angry, maybe ask yourself, \u2018Why did this video make me so angry?\u2019 \u2014 because at the end of the day, it ain\u2019t real.\u201d<\/p>\n

He told Insider he usually declines orders that don\u2019t tip, but opted to deliver this one to teach a \u201clesson for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t realize these many people support not tipping drivers,\u201d he told the site.\n <\/p><\/div>\n
