“#Neil Young Withdraws From Farm Aid 2021 Over COVID-19 Concerns<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Neil Young has withdrawn from the 2021 edition of Farm Aid<\/a> over COVID-19 concerns, as Consequence of Sound<\/a> points out. The musician, who is a Farm Aid board member and co-founder, broke the news<\/a> on his Neil Young Archives<\/a> website earlier today (August 18). \u201cI find myself wondering whether Farmaid will be safe for everyone with the Covid pandemic surging,\u201d Young wrote. \u201cI worry about that. I don\u2019t want to let anybody down, but still can\u2019t shake the feeling that it might not be safe for everyone.\u201d He added: \u201cI don\u2019t want to play until you feel safe, and it is indeed, safe.\u201d Young also mentioned that festival is sold out. As of this writing, Young is not listed on Farm Aid\u2019s official lineup<\/a>. The roster does currently include Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews. \u201cWhile I respect Willie, John and Dave\u2019s decisions to stick with it and play, I am not of the same mind,\u201d Young wrote. \u201cIt is a tough call.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Young also spoke of his concerns over vaccinated attendees potentially spreading the virus to children. \u201cThere are already too many children in hospitals,\u201d he wrote. \u00a0\u201cMy soul tells me it would be wrong to risk having anyone die because they wanted to hear music and be with friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
